I think its interesting that Sharon talks about her wishes for the SOTD packaging to include ticket stubs, back stage passes, ect. Seems like she's always had that mind set of giving the fans more than just the music.

Sharon Osbourne wrote:"They are all great musicians but I don't think they'll ever be stars in their own right."
Seems like it's always been about the fame and fortune as opposed to being about the music. Any band (or members thereof) who are not in it for the music are a waste of time. So the question is, is Ozzy in it for the music or for the ego?

It was clear where Randy was going to go. If he wouldn't surpass Ozzy's success, he would of at least matched it.
I will hand it to her, she does have all of the cards. She played her hand very well these last 35 years or so.
It shows she asserted her position early, that's for sure. It is somewhat ironic though that Ozzy sang "Miracle Man" about Jimmy Swaggart and she's slowly taking on the appearance of Tammy Fae Baker!
It seems like she has wanted to put these killer packages together, but they didn't really come to fruition, save for the Japanese market.
All you have to do is look at the POD box. No passes, no pics and a very uninspired track list of his own material, along with novelty appearances and lukewarm covers. Five of the nine tracks that represent Randy are with a rythym section that was in middle school when he recorded them.
If Sharon wanted to hook up the fans, where is the promo vid anthology? Irvine with Brad? Salt Lake and/or Kansas, (Ultimate Ozzy), with Jake? The dark horse of the bunch being the Wicked Videos as that was Zakk era.
Why can we not walk into any local chain or corporate big-box conglomorate and buy any of the aforementioned titles for our enjoyment?
Ozzy's solo career oficially became available for sale in 1980. The first eleven years have been altered, ignored or deleted and these were the formative years. A lot of great music from several different lineups.
It's odd because these people like money....a lot. There's a tremendous amount of cash to be made and you would think plenty to go around. Compensate these men whose shoulders you stood on. Represent them properly in your history as it is foolish to exclude them and you risk insulting the intelligence of your fanbase.
Whenever I put on Blizzard or Diary, what a wonderful, delicate furious beast.... I MISS you, man!

A bit off topic from Ozzy; but In rock n' roll, this type of double standard has always existed, ie pretending to be one of the rebellious (and skint) masses, when in relaity being a part of the machine they profess to be against.

When Motorhead's Eat The Rich album came out, I remember my mum saying what were they going to do, eat themselves :P Good old mum!

And waving the carrot in front of our faces and then nothing! I'm hoping this box ($$$) is worth the Randy extra stuff. No in concert footage that cuts to Ozzy on a couch saying, "Cool." Full songs, keep the BS to a minimum and deliver the goods.

Well she summed it up for everyone to see, make a product, add a few bits of cheap merchendise and it costs us £120 = $150 and its cost her an extra few dollars for each package sold. That was in 1983 and her work ethics havn't changed she's doing the same now. Pulling the right strings and making a cheap package sell for bigger dollar. Add a rare live performance and she's laughing all the way to the bank. But we are the mugs who are crying out for the unseen footage and she knows she's sitting on a potential goldmine. That's why she can carry on into Ozzy's retirement knowing she can milk us dry and like daft fuckers we'll go out and buy it..

Read further, she says she desperately wanted to manage Randy, says she knew he would be extremely well known and successful in 2 or 3 years and could choose any path and be big.

She saw a big time money maker in Randy, plain and simple. She "desperately wanted" that, no doubt.

I just couldn't believe she referred to her husband's band as the "Blizzard of Ozz". Has she ever called anything other than Ozzy's band? They've claimed it was always Ozzy is the star, the rest are sidemen, it was never a band, correct?
What a gem of a find, Shaun! 8) Great stuff!
