After Hours...what's up with that?

All this talk of footage has me thinking about this. I've posed these questions a few times before, but they were somewhat off-topic to the subject at hand, so I made a seperate thread here:
Why do you folks think this has never received an official release?
The video quality is great and everyone performed well, Ozzy had trouble with a couple of notes, but otherwise a spirited performance.
I'm mystified as to why this excellent, albeit short document of the Mach II lineup has been left to languish in limbo.
The Osbournes have used parts of it for the Crazy Train promo vid from Tribute, as well as for the Don't Blame Me doc.
The family has had this playing at Randy's gravesite for several years.
Almost the entire performance was allowed for the independent Japanese doc for the 20th anniversary.
So I ask you fine people:
What's up with that? (oooohweee...wassupwitdat, wassupwidtdat..)

ill be honest tom i really think randy's tone absolutely sucked on after hours...it just didnt sound like him...other than that i dont understand why its never been released officially....the editing was horrible and the mix was off at times...

Maybe it was just whatever generation video of it we were watching for the reason the sound wasn't up to par? Obviously it's been cleaned up in recent years, I wonder if the sound improved?
Can't fix that editing job, though...Rudy resplendent in red whilst Randy rips and rocks!
Say that five times fast!

Right...The Osbournes DUPED Me into buying Down to Earth in 2002,I mean...
I LOVE Ozzy always have & always will.....but as for his albums Post Randy
Cant say I can even make it through a whole album in one sitting.

I Often have a Love/Hate thing w/Afterhours because Ive had Many a Copys & if you watch the Clips on Dont Blame me or the Japan 2002 Doc you'll get a Clean Nice Mix ,but its just a Stereo master wherever the source Master Video is.
But they are in a small room & the Cymbals often sound like theres a Brick wall (very bright & reflective) In other words it more or less sounds live they are in a Basement w/mutiple mics. The Real Mix isnt as bad but thats Exactly WHY I'Ve Been SO EXCITED to see this NEW Footage because they are playing LIVE!!!!
All the other Pro-shot stuff is Rehearsals, backstage & afterhours & Live is where the MAGIC was
Ozzy & Randy had this Untouchable thing (chemestry) & they really came to life w/1000s of Screaming fans hanging on every word & Note

as for Post RR Ozzy; Speak=rehashed Sabbath tunes w/a Trigger Happy (on the Whammy bar) Brad Gillis, although Snowblind & a few others sound Cool for 1982?
Bark/Ultimate sin= Well,....actually Pretty good,I may make it through this one &
this is often dissed by the Public & Ozzy but its one of my Faves
I loved it when I was 7-8 its very Poppy..but actually Great!!
No Rest/No More tears=Has a good handful like BATM & TUS But still not the RR era
Ozzmosis-Pretty Good songs, but its really a Studio album w/lots of Slick Production Tricks & Effects that cant translate live as well, but most is pretty good.
Down To Earth & Black Rain= Bought DTE for the "Never before Seen RR Footage" Advertised on the sticker & was very Bummed after that, there are a few cool tunes (Ozzys melodies always carry the tunes) But the guys who produced that & the rerecordings prob helped that one stink,so in that I havent heard Black Rain in its entirety or Scream/

I thought I read somewhere that Ozzy and Sharon said that the After Hours footage that was released on the Japanese 20th anniversary was under some copy right agreement until ??? I'm not sure what year?? But, it would then be released in the U.S.

I would like to see this cleaned up and released also! I do not know why it has never officially been released though?? Maybe it will be included with this deluxe box set in May???

It's funny because Randy does goof up the 2nd section the second time and smiles into the camera. I love afterhours. It isn't a "live" in front of thousands but a small 10-20 people and the conditions weren't optimum but I couldn't imagine not having that document.

There are two different mixes, one where the guitar is buried (loud cymbals) and one where the guitar is nice and upfront. The tape doesn't have the announcer guy introducing them and the lead into "Robin Lane and the Chartbusters!" I have a tape from the cameraman (supposedly) and my friend who gave it to me wrote the story down. The guy he got it from was at a hotel bar and they started talking about TV shows and what he filmed. When asked if he ever filmed Ozzy, the cameraman replied, "Yeah, I shot that asshole." I'm sure I don't have the only copy, he probably sold a few... Not my words but picture a drinking cameraman...

Cool, I had never heard that they were waiting for some period of time to expire so they could release it. :)
That's right they did have some clips on one of the 02 re-issues...I forgot about that. Thanks, D :D
That's one of the cool things about this gig, they're a little more relaxed. Still pros, but layin' back a bit. Randy's flub is priceless, he checks the band twice, but no one seems to have noticed, but that one person in the crowd, and Randy has to work to get back into the song, stifiling laughter. Priceless stuff.
Funny story about the cameraman :)

Yep, I left out that Suicide Solution was the "mistake" and it is priceless. I think the forgettable After Hours CLIPS were on cdrom or DVD bonus on "Down to Earth" was it? I don't think it would of been on a 2002 re-release (bastardized). I do have an early flyer (somewhere) for the 2002 releases and the Blizzard CD said "You Said it all" on the track listing for bonus of which they pulled. It doesn't contain YSIA. I will try to find the flyer. If I appeared paranoid before...
