I too was at the gig in 1980, aged 17/18. Can't remember which month it was though. Ozzy was throwing out mainly Crazy Train singles, and a few Blizzard of Ozz Albums were also thrown out. I remember going straight from my summer job as a student, getting there way too early just to be guaranteed entry. It was packed, with more people in than for any other gigs I'd been to there. Early on I bagged a stool at the left hand side wall , and stood on that during the gig. The venue was then called the Norbreck Nite Spot. Norbreck castle is on the North side of Blackpool heading towards Bispham, not on the south side as another poster suggested. Gigs around that time were very common - I remember seeing Saxon, Iron Maiden, Girlschool, Def Leppard there also, before they were famous. I can only remember one specific thing about the set they played - Don Airey started off on the long keyboard intro to Mr Crowley, obviously a track that few if any of the audience had heard before, and as it went on, someone actually shouted out 'Get On With It !

Lindsay Bridgwater was the keyboard player. Don Airey was hired to play on the Blizzard of Ozz album but he didn't play any live gigs with The Law or The Blizzard of Ozz.

First show? Yep, it was Norbreck Nite Spot, a small venue at the side of the Norbreck Castle Hotel in north Blackpool. Held about 2-300 people. Lots of up & coming (or fading) bands played there around 79/82, including 'The Law' (aka BoOz). I was bang at the front, in front of Randy, resting on a metal bar/fence. Remember him being SO small. :-) It was hot and packed out (everyone knew who it was a least a week beforehand).

Think this was the 1st of 4 small warm up gigs before a UK tour. Anyway, I believe it was Sept 1980 (I have seen it billed as 3/9/80). I thought it was before the Reading Festival (no) show in August, but it was afterwards thinking back.

Sharon O mentions the "dressing room" in her book. I've been in that dressing room (chatting to Budgie), its a medium size cupboard!!!! great days!

Its just a bar now......

It was about a year after Iron Maiden & Def Leppard played there. Remember Maiden having this pathetic little skull behind the drum kit that 'spat' blood. Two of those guys still in the band - and three of Lepps still are too.

The date of the Law gig at West Runton is probably the only thing that's accurate in that article.
