i looked at this thread 3 times before clicking... Whyd i click...

u guys are haters. atleast its keeping that song alive.. its guna make a whole new group of younger people like the song and make them want to hear the original.. and turn more people into ozzy/randy fans.

Not necessarily. I give them credit for making it their own, but that's where I stop with the props.

Just because someone likes the cover does NOT mean they'll like the original. Especially if they make it THAT different.

If they like that version, then it's likely that they like that type of music. I'm pretty sure if you were to ask at least 75% of the people who like that version and that type of music, they'd tell you the original sucks. Especially so if it's in the younger generation.

I actually liked it quite a bit. I think they were smart to change it up, after all no one is going to top the original right? You have to make it your own. I think their singer belts it out pretty good, I like the tempo change in the verse and the weird keyboard in the back plus of course the double kick. All in all not too bad at all IMHO.

Right, but you've been around long enough to appreciate many types of music, haven't you? And which version did you grow up on?

I'm more specifically referring to the hordes of young screamo fans. I would assume ages 12-19 in most cases.


It's just like how on youtube there's always fights about who's the better guitarist, Randy Rhoads, or Zakk Wylde. It more depends on who you grew up on listening to, how "open" you are to other versions, and which style of music you prefer. (By covers, I mean Zakk's covers of Randy's music.)


If you grew up on this screamo version of Over The Mountain (Let's say it's older than it is) and you grew up on screamo music, and you LOVE screamo music, chances are you won't like the original because you like screamo.
