I was very surprised that, that second quote came from Triumph's guitarist Rik Emmett. Who is in a class of his own and very much classicaly taught in his own right. I wonder if his inspiration was brought on after he seen him playing Live at the Port Vale HMH gig in 1981. Imagine being so impressed with his performance and being in awe at the guys talent.
