I seen (I think here) a pic of the back of RR's Les Paul where it seems the control cavity is (brass maybe).. can someone please post that pic here....thanx

Looks as if he just flipped the plate around and has the shielding foil on the outside. I've seen people do that on the trss rod cover...not sure why those would be shielded though.

However, maybe it waas just the sun. Check out this picture

Actually, it probably is the sun because I have observed that if you you look at the upper plate right under Randys' elbow in the firs one, you'll see it's black. The ones in the second one are both black.

Ok, just received the Guitar Center mailout today for the Labor Day ad. They have a full page advert for the RR Les Paul. It does indeed say that they back plates are brass on Randy's guitar.

These are a couple of rare Randy & Jodi pics, this was a party for Randy when he left to go to England in 1979. These are part of Frank's collection he posted these up with other cool items including his guitar tabs that Randy hand wrote.

I really like a few of those so I had to share,but back to the Topic at hand---It is Likely that Randy or his Tech had changed the covers from time to time???
I remember atopic a long while back about Randys Knobs on the PDV some were white & later on Black,or Visa Versa

by his elbow in the knoxville shot, you can see the shine off of the circle for the toggle plate. Clearly not black. You can also see the massive area where the paint has worn off. Interesting I never noticed that before, I always thought it was a shadow right there. Now we know.

the pdv had a chrome tremelo and white knobs when sandoval made it, but somewhere by doam tour randy changed the tremelo, pick up rings and knobs to black.
