EDIT: Sorry. I didn't realize this was being talked about. I can delete the post if anyone wants me to. Ozzy really doesn't know what's going in the boxed-set ... only Sharon? He mentioned it was a super 8 camera.
(Hayley Bykens): Okay, my question for you is about the footage you found of the Randy Rhoads early in your career. Do you have any details about how much will be included in the box set of the Blizzard Diary or where it might have been filmed?
Ozzy Osbourne: I don't know anything about what you're saying. My wife's is doing all that. I have heard and seen a little bit of it. If I'm correct, it's taken from like a Super Eight Studio.
But they might- I mean, so much was going on the Osbourne clan. I don't get a chance to catch up with it, but I think what you said about the video, about who was it Randy?
(Hayley Bykens): Yes.
Ozzy Osbourne: Well he's amazing. After all these years, people are still coming up with, you know, they clean their attic and they'll find another thing, you know. It's really interesting.
But we'll have to wait and see it though. Thank you.

Oh, no no I am glad it is posted. That was actually my friend (Hayley) that asked that question. I asked her to ask him about the footage and she was cool enough to do just that. She did it and she sent me the transcript but said I couldnt post it. I dont know why all the secrecy but I had to respect her wishes on it. I'm glad it is posted so it can be openly discussed. The question actually stemmed from this thread:

This is a good example of why this thick bastard deserves any flak he gets from the fans. Honestly, man...it's a simple question and his reply seems like he forgot he was talking about Randy!
What a shit interview this guy is. He claims to be tired of questions about bats, birds and the Alamo, but the circus aspect of his career seems to be the only thing he can focus on. Anything the slightest bit technical or difficult and he passes it off to Sharon, who for some reason is being mute right now, which is strange, considering she has an affinity for running her mouth on any given subject.
As a teen in the eighties, I thought Ozzy was the be-all/ end-all...it's so weird to stand here in my early forties realizing it was all a sham. The only thing he seems to have taken charge of in his career is the microphone, and lately that has become suspect.
Prince of darkness indeed...more like borderline retarded...a British version of Homer Simpson come to life...not in a funny way either.
In the future, if anyone participates in a meet-and-greet with Grampy Osbourne, please don't ask him anymore questions regarding footage, lest he strain himself.

He's always been like that. Inconsistent and forgetful. Just imagine the obscene amounts of chemicals this guy has put into his body. Even he admits it's amazing he's still kicking. The guy can barely talk anymore. It's sad, really. I feel bad for him. But yes, I was annoyed too at the "Oh, we were talking about Randy, right?"
YES you were talking about Randy, the guy that saved your career and by your own words the best guitar player you've ever heard and the kid you loved. And you FORGOT?

No kidding,
You would have thought it would have been mor along the lines of:
"You'll never believe what we found in the can! Footage of my buddy Randy and I playing the Palladium back in '81! It's the full second show and puts that bootleg stuff you guys have been watching for years to shame!
Once we get it cleaned up, we're gonna put it out on DVD with some other suprises for all of you come the Christmas season."
But then, that would be alternate-universe Ozzy we're talking about

Hey, it wasn't me!!

I'm still apologizing to TAB (Tom) for updating UR members on the documentary status. When AceVader mentioned it to me in a PM I didn't think it was life-altering. In fact, it just creates more speculation. Here's some basic info on Super 8. What is it exactly? This is from Upperfold.com
http://www.upperfold.com/8mmvss8mm.shtml

--------------------------------Standard (left) and Super 8 (right)--------"Super 8" 8mm films
The differences between the two formats are as follows.
Standard 8mm film is in fact 25 feet of 16mm motion picture film which is run through the camera twice. On each run, pictures are exposed down one edge of the stock and then down the other. When the film is processed, it is then also split right down the middle and joined at the ends to form 50 feet of 8mm film.
Super 8mm film is actually 8mm wide to begin with. Also, it has smaller sprocket holes which allows for a larger image. Finally, it is sealed in a self contained cartridge for easy loading.
You do not have to load Standard 8mm film in darkness, just be sensible and load it in slightly subdued light (i.e under a tree, not out in the sun.) The outer layers of film on the spool protect the inner ones from light whilst the film is being loaded.
We must also mention Single 8 here. That is Super 8mm film, again sealed in a handy cartridge, but this time the spools are on top of each other rather than mounted on the same axle as in Super 8.
A couple of other points worth mentioning. Although the image area on Super 8 is actually larger, this does not necessarily mean you always get a better picture. A Standard 8mm camera has a proper film gate with a pressure metal plate which keeps the film steady and in position behind the gate. With Super 8, the pressure plate is plastic and is built into the cartridge. This can result in image weave and jiggle (the film is actually moving from side to side a bit whilst being exposed.
(From Wikipedia): Super 8 was often erroneously criticized, since the film gate in some cheap Super 8 cameras was plastic, as was the pressure plate built in to the cartridge; the standard 8 cameras had a permanent metal film gate that was regarded as more reliable in keeping the film flat and the image in focus. In reality, this was not the case. The plastic pressure plate could be moulded to far smaller tolerances than their metal counterparts could be machined. The permanent metal pressure plates had to be machined to a compromise size for all film likely to be encountered, whereas the plastic pressure plate was custom moulded for the specific film in the cartridge. This was of greater importance in sound cameras as the sound film was thinner than its silent counterpart. A further issue was that every film cartridge came with a brand new (and hence unworn) pressure plate.
Secondly, many Super 8 cameras have such enormous zoom lenses on them (to try and appeal to as wider market as possible) that, due to the number of elements of glass in the lens, you can often get a much worse picture than that achieved with a single prime lens on an old Standard 8 camera.
Also, standard 8mm film can be wound back in the camera and then re-exposed for all kinds of special effects and double exposure tricks.
If you ever wondered what Super 8 video looks like here is an example of it on youtube. It will be really interesting to see the unseen footage look like an old family movie but that's fine with me...

oh man, was that stupid. I started getting suspect a few weeks ago about there even being any footage AT ALL. He sounds like he could care less. You watch, they'll end up releasing a cleaned up version of After Hours (if that)

Did anyone really expect anything different from Ozzy? I didn't.
But it is a bit dissapointing that he doesn't seem to have shown much interest in any new footage found/cleaned up, youd've thought he'd have at least wanted to have a look at it, knowing full well that questions about it was gonna be asked to him. Unless he's just been ordered by the wife to say fuck all yet.

Hey Gaz How its going ?. You've met Ozzy a few times and i can imagine he is very nervous when asked questions. so you'll probably agree with what i'm saying here. This new interview couldn't of been rehearsed and he had to answer everything that was thrown at him. I've noticed him on stage from recent gigs. He doesn't know what to do next. Yeah he can sing the songs, but his actions are not fluid ?. He's got the mic from the stand, he side steps 3 paces backwards, moves back to the mic stand puts the mic back, gets the mic back out, moves 3 steps to the left. I think alot of time he is fucked up with medication he takes 58+ tablets a day. When his medication is kicking in and he feels good he is settled and in his zone. But when he's not, he's uncomfortable and irritable and cannot keep still. Very much the same as the side effects of parkinson's disease. So i can imagine his thoughts to be the same. He jumps off on a tangent and goes off the subject easily and forgets what he's talking about ect. I'm just pleased for the guy and that he's still out there making music and playing Live. I think we should be grateful most vintage musicians his age are fucked, retired or dead. Because when he does decide to call it a day he will be a BIG miss.

Yes I agree with everything you say Shaun, especially his onstage performance, his behaviour is often erratic. Sometimes when he's onstage pulling out the mic, putting it back in, pulling it out again all wthin the space of a few seconds you feel like shouting "For fuck sake Ozzy, make your'e mind up"
I wish he's just go back to what he did in the 70's and up to '81, leave the mic in the stand all the time, stand and sing into the mic, then go and do his clapping, jumping or whatever, before returning to the mic to sing again.
I think it was the start of the Diary tour in early '82 when he started removing the mic and moving around the stage stooping his back, and he's never really looked comfortable doing that. He looks a lot better just stood at the mic stand to sing. Maybe he just can't help his actions 'cos they do seem a bit involuntary like some sort of nervous twitch or spasm, as if it's out of his control.
All this is me just waffling really, 'cos I do still enjoy going to see him live in concert, and an erratic confused Ozzy is better than no Ozzy at al
