I thought that It might be a forgotten date....
There are Saxon pictures of the Brussel show online... but no one can remember if Ozzy and Randy played or not that night.

I found my Saxon 1981 'Denim & Leather' tour programme and it mentions the places they toured but no dates.

Brussels: Foret Nationale
Amsterdam: Edenhalle
Essen: Grugahalle
Bremen: Stadthalle
Kiel: Ostee Halle
Hannover: Eilenriede Halle
Hamburg: Ernst-Merck Halle
Wolfsburg: Stadthalle
Cologne: Sporthalle
Offenbach: Stadthalle
Saarbruecken: Saarland Halle
Karlsruhe: Schwarzwald Halle
Ravensburg: Oberschwaben Halle
Stuttgart: Sporthalle Boblingen
Nuremberg: Hemerlein Halle
Munich: Rudi-Sedlmayer
Heidelburg: Rhein Neckar Halle
Dortmund: Westfalen Halle
Wurzburg: Kurnachtal Halle
Geneva: Pavillion Sports Champel
Strasborg: Tivoli
Paris: Hippodrome
Lille:
Basel: St Jacob's Hall
Turin
Milan
Genoa
Bologna
Udine
Padova
Rome
That list is long and i don't think Ozzy did the Italy tour. So we are missing alot of dates, they could of been cancelled. But how many ? We are looking at Holland Germany Belgium Switzerland & France.

Not to change the subject, but what is it you like so much about Belgium (in case I never get over there), I love hearing about places outside the U.S. I would have loved to have seen Ozzy and Saxon also.

as an avid militia guardsman i followed saxon that tour and saw them at least 4 times , i know ozzy certainly wasnt on the uk dates , seems strange that he would be supporting and not headlining , unless co headliners , saxon did a gig in a tent with priest in france i think

Didn't say I was avid, I asked Ian why he liked Belgium so much. Other places just interest me that's all.

Good question ted, I like belgium and europe because of the culture, food, drink, history etc. I go to Antwerp in belgium at least once a year infact I was there 2 weeks ago.
I enjoy everything involved in the 7 hour door to door journey, the ferry that takes you across the sea then you have to drive across the trnches that were fought over in WWI which fill me with sadness as I see familier names throught the dark and gloom, I just wonder how those people fighting must have felt seeing what I can now see with freedom to travel.

I know that the USA is young and anything over 200 years old is a monument but here in europe you get modern urban development shoulder to shoulder with buildings from the 1400's.
Antwerp my city of choice also benefits from being a place that has few tourists and those that you meet are seldom British, when I get away I like to leave my fellow countrymen behind.
I hope you get the chance to visit Europe Ted I will buy you dinner, that is a promise.

Ozzy Osbourne band was supporting Saxon on the heavy metal battle tour. This is confirmed that all dates after Germany were cancelled until the Cardiff show - from memory - No one ever talk about the date - Belgium - before Germany.....
btw I even saw a tape mentioning live in Lyon - France -.....

As a collector of Ozzy audio for almost 30 years I find it odd that if they played all these shows on mainland Europe in late 1981, why didnt more than one get recorded?
The buzz around Ozzy was huge at the time so why has so little surfaced. Has antbody checked how many Saxon shows from this tour are availabe as boots? becuase chances are if Saxon were recorded so was Ozzy!

This period in Randy's history is the area we know least about.

had one labeled early on as Lyon France but it turned out to be just a mislabeled show.

Well we do know that Ozzy played some of those dates. Rudy mentioned it in his book, plus a photo of Randy with Jake Duncan was taking in Cologne ? If my memory is correct. The only reason i can see Ozzy dropping this tour would be if the gigs followed one after another with no days off. I've noticed that Ozzy has always been a '2 gigs played then a day off' performer. Plus i remember Randy Rhoads had stickers on his LP guitar case. He added these stickers to his guitar while on tour. The 2 that are noticable are Scotland and France. So that makes me think that they would of done gigs in France. I don't recall Randy ever being in France without Ozzy while on tour.
