Re the drama on RR boards.

Post by Paiste2002 »

I have said this for years that certain people refuse to be a part of Randy Rhoads websites due to drama and nonsense. Hence you will never ever see Drew here. It's honestly not worth his time or effort. It's a shame that Kelly Garni and Doug Rhoads came online with good intentions and now have been put through the ringer per say. Doug is one of the nicest dudes you would meet and Kelly tells it like it is man. These guys if my hunch is correct don't know how to make a website so they entrusted Steve. Doug and Kelly viewed it as a great idea to keep Randy's name alive and to promote their upcoming music projects. No harm in that at all.

Doug in my opinion has spent the majority of his later years living in his brothers shadow. Sadly he will always be known as the brother to Randy Rhoads. This became sadly apparent when he came out with his band Rhoads in the mid 80's and asked me to pass out some flyers and bumper stickers. The logo was a flying V with the name "Rhoads" on it. Doug has amazing talent and I pray he gets his shot to put music out on a national level.

I agree with you Craig, 1000% , and think Doug and Kelly should take a lot of time away from the forums. They don't need or deserve any of this. Cheers :fish:

yeah, getting dragged into the mud by fans is unavoidable on the net.
Sometimes the fanatism is really creepy.i dont think to many big celebrities ever get involved with their fansites and im sure their managers drill it into their heads ro avoid interaction with the public. Not much good can come of it and lots of bad is available. Most of the rhoads and drew avoided these sites and it has been for the better that they did. They get to miss all this garbage.
What they are saying on tk is really backstabbing garbage.Classic, childish, 8yr old garbage.Take away the discussions of the movie and all this bad feelings stuff would have never happened.Im sure there is gonna be hurt feelings for a long time now.And for what-a frikkin movie that may or may not be a flop?

Well face facts who started that thread and went on the attack? There was never anything disrespectful said to him. Like you said Kelly tells it like it is, and so do other people. Like Paul suggested there and it happened. They took the high road and are working it out with the parties involved. Maybe you guys should too instead of just perpetuating all of it.

If you are a real fan, anything with Randy in it will be great. Lets put it to an end let em work it out..

Looks like all is well and Steve came around. Steve is a very passionate person and maybe he got caught up in the nonsense that's become the documentary. But the sites back up so it's all good for the fans.

I hope it does come out soon. Also it would be cool is Doug Rhoads had his shot in music so I encourage people to support that. He is hands down one of the coolest dudes you can ever meet. Just a genuine person.

I never got that level of fanaticism. It is creepy. I cant even see wanting to mimic anything I admire in my influences. Other than the natural idiosyncracies I've developed studying their technical and emotional aspects. I've always known that the people we hold up as our idols are still just normal people though. The idea of being the best at my own endeavours and creating my own music has always been more alluring and fascinating than trying to clone myself into someone I am not. Fans can get out there that's for sure.
Oh bring me some CHUNKY PUDDING, and bring it RIGHT NOW!!!

whats wrong with wanting a guitar type like one of your heroes? Some people might think pursuing 30 year old, crappy sounding bootleg concerts is weird too, eh?(although I still do it as well  ) ?

McLowery that was hands down one of the most pure post's I have seen in regards to fandom. The problem is people create this image and it's so true with Randy. He wasn't the guy people think he is. But if people want to believe he was a saint then fine. Those of us who knew him and heard first hand accounts of things know better.

Great post Mc

Indivuality is the essence of all art...
It is after alll what makes art, art! A graphic design style drawing, of a piece of scenery, is like a tribute band's reproduction of a famous artist/s. This is not art, but assimulation of art as it intends to reproduce what has already been done and not create something new. If people are happy with that, then good for them, it is a free country.

I am happy to walk the path I am on :) and I learned much of that from Randyx

and I love the crappy boots too  8) The 100% Tribute thing is not for me, but some people really enjoy it, and do it well. I'd have to guess that "most" who do it, do so because it is fun. They love the music and playing it, or getting to play as a Tribute I would assume is a great amount of fun. I can't speak for anyone who does it, but I wouldn't think they consider it "art" per say, as much as it's just fun to do. Same goes for the guitars. I'm no musician, but I'll still enjoy the hell of my PDV when Perry is done with it. I do get what your saying about the 100% thing though. If some dude showed up at a PTA meeting looking like Ozzy's twin from an era gone by, well, that just might be a little strange

I managed to get in okay... the funny thing is, I didn't know it was back up until I got an email that someone left me a message. So I clicked the link, logged in and it said that there were no messages! The 'net is just an odd place sometimes :D
