Statement from Steve

Post by Devil's Advocate »

I received this e-mail from Steve explaining why he decided to no longer affiliate himself with www.RandyRhoads.us. and his reasons for selling the website. Take what you want from it. Thank You Steve for explaining your side of the story.

Here is Steve's statement on the matter:

I contacted Kelly just as his girlfriend said. I told Kelly I wanted out and offered him the site for $2000.00 or if he could get a Jackson RR-1 with his connection I would settle for that. All of this is true!

Because of all of the drama created on UR & TK and with all of the "one-sided" opinions and attacks delievered to me over and over by so called good people on TK and UR.. I have decided that it would be best for Kelly and the future of www.randyrhoads.us to continue without my presence. There are things I know about the film,Peter,The family and so on that needs to come from another source not me! I continue to feel the need to let out all of this information. Kelly was going to tell you folks some very important info about what happen to me and the treatment i got in the past that involved some of you so-called good people on TK & UR ..I have to admit i was waiting for the info to be posted and it never came. Kelly has his reasons for holding the info~ I decided to call it quits with any kind of community that involves Randy Rhoads fans.
Some of the fans are very nice people but the ones who leave the attacks and post opinions that dont get banned ..I'm sick of being around and I think Mrs Rhoads said it best when she told me and Kelly both she did not like the sites UR & TK all they did is cause trouble! Enough said about that and if you dont believe that ask Kelly.

I want as far away from this bullshit as I can get. it dont matter what any of you think the site is worth or if I should get paid for it..bottom line I own it and I'm going to sell it.
I have no bad feelings against Kelly or have anything to say about him bad at all! he is a good person, I just want out. thats it~ and then you can attack him for trying to get your members to support the only website with the Rhoads family endorsement. I know some of you will jab at that because it messes with your ego but deal with it.

If Kelly and www.randyrhoads.us goes foward i wish them much success unlike most of you that wish it would fall.
Just because we've been dealt a certain hand doesn't mean that we can't choose to rise above and make our own destiny...

I don't know the guy - maybe he's being truthful, maybe he's not. What I do know is that when one is running a web site with active subscribers, there is an obligation to those subscribers to provide a service for the duration of the subscription. The proper way to handle the sale of a site is to keep it operational and allow the sale to take place without all the drama and fanfare - most importantly, the transaction should be seamless and transparent to the subscribers. It would appear that this has been handled in the exact opposite manner. Whose fault is that? I honestly don't know, but no matter how you slice it you can paint a turd pink but it'll still reek of shit.

What baffles me is that if the server is "prepaid" for a year, what would be the harm of keeping the site operational until a buyer is found? Shutting it down outright is like holding a hostage.

Steve,
How do you think you can justify asking $2000.00 from someone who is helping RR fans for years for FREE ?

(btw $2000.00 ???? You need money??? )
The winner of the rat race is still a rat.

Oh my god.. the best thing for him to do is just please " GO AWAY" and quit blaming tk & UR and anyone else for his bad behavior. No more aliases, people talking for him, rumor starting, he said she said, .. Enough already.. :!:

Steve, first of Delores would be ashamed at you for wanting a Rhoads-LTD guitar for a website that was dedicated to her son. You're sole focus is on money and some form of noteriety. Doug, Randy's brother has to be shaking his head at this one man. Doug is such a good dude and you hosed him and Kelly Garni bad brother. As for your dirt on the film spew it already. I know certain band member relationships were never peachy and how there was to many interviews. I just cannot believe you would do such a underhanded thing man.

If money is your god maybe some real Randy fans will pony up the loot for the site. But that site sure as hell didn't cost five grand of your time bud. You're so delusional you make Lindsay Lohan on twelve hits of acid look sane.

I've been pretty reluctant to post about RRUS... even from the start. So before any clever chopper decides to say "oi skeeEEEEeeeeza, you've been bashing this right from the start.... blah blah", I just thought i'd throw that into a massive cement mixer... yeah not sure where i'm going with that, but I AM going somewhere with this... Ian and I, have run Ultimate Rhoads to the best our abilities. We are human. We therefore have to judge situations on what appears to be correct at the time. Whether Mr X or Mr Y thinks our decisions on those situations are correct is pretty incidental because we only have that split moment in which to judge. Its also worth noting, moderators in that position only have their own judgement and in the end, they can only do what they feel is best at the time.

RR.tk and Ultimate Rhoads have provided Randy Rhoads fans with platforms to access information about Randy, free of charge, for a number of years (RR.tk has been going strong for just over 7 years and UR has been going for 3, nearly 4 years). Both of these sites have provided a vital service to fans all over the world. It is easy, for those who have never experienced either site, to take certain things out of context. I believe that if Delores knew what a valuable source of information both sites were on Randy, she would be very appreciative. In the end, I don't know whether she has been able to really see how good RR.tk or UR have been... But I have. I know that RR.tk was a great place for me (even as a 15 year old kid, back then of course :) ) to learn loads of information about Randy. Since then, Ultimate Rhoads has become a great place to learn about Randy. Essentially, you have two places with masses of information. RR.tk has some information more detailed than UR, and UR has certain information more detailed than TK, and that keeps a real clean balance between the two sites. In the end, you can't centralize all the information... There is just too much of it :)

I still believe that Delores appreciates both sites for their service to Randy and I'm sure if he could see himself, he'd be really proud.

To that end, I wish RR.tk and Ultimate Rhoads a successful 2010 and wish the very best for the end of 2009. I also hope that whatever happens to RRUS is productive to the Randy Rhoads community, as I have always felt (Even though I was banned for... well, essentially being a freaking mod here) that the more sites promoting the name of Randall William Rhoads, the better.

I'm Done...

Some great points Joe. I'll add to that, The Day The Music Died, Eternal and a few others, have been around for 11 + years doing their part(well, honestly, leading the way) 8) A good many fans are either quickly approaching 30 years or have already surpassed it. We've been keeping this flame lit for a very long time. There is no need to be marginalized because someone else thinks they are the latest and greatest. Go listen to Tribute and see if you can remember what this was all suppose to be about
