Beechcraft Bonanza F-35

I have been looking around for flight simulations on the internet because I wanted to get some sense of the speed of these craft when they are flying. I also wanted to better understand Randy's plane crash. There probably is a way to download software and do a simulation of the crash but so far I have been unable to put the pieces together. I did find two video clips which give some sense of perspective. In the first video the landscape and speed are accurate to what it "feels" like to be in one of those planes. Man, even I was scared. I can't imagine how Randy felt. The second video is a Beechcraft Bonanza giving you a pretty good buzz job/fly by.

A year ago today you posted this. I am not sure why I happened upon this, I was just reading posts that had no responses. I too am very curious about the flight and crash.

Notoriously unstable aircraft on account of the V tail. If you notice, they went to a standard horizontal and vertical stabilizer some time in the 80s because there were so many incidents with the V tail. It wasn't necessarily the V tail's fault; those planes just need a certain amount of finesse when flown. One of my friends got his certification in one, and said that if you so much as turned around to grab a map from the back of the plane, you could feel the plane start to shift around and roll a little.

The V tail, known colloquially as the "doctor killer." The planes were very fast and relatively affordable. Many first time pilots (doctors, I suppose) would go buy one then end up stuffing it. Kinda like getting a 16 year old first time driver a Porsche 911 turbo. I wonder what would happen?

I've always been curious about the V tail and I've always wanted to ride in one. I'd imagine it would be a fair bit more exciting than a Cessna 182 and the like.

In the article above it states that Beechcraft quit making the V-tail Bonana in 1982:
In 1982 the V-tail Bonanza was dropped from production, though more than 6,000 V-tail models are still flying today. In general aviation circles, the epithet "fork-tailed doctor killer" became a familiar denigration of the V-tail model. Many V-tailed Model 35 Bonanzas are still flying, and they command a premium price on the used aircraft market.

Buddy Holly,The Big Bopper and Richie Valens also died in a V-tail Bonanza which was built in 1947,while the one Randy died in was build in 1955,Here's an article on the same model Buddy Holly died in on Feb 3rd 1959 with pictures:

The Bonanza Randy died in had number: N567LT and was construction number(serial number): D-4144 on the assembly line,another plane now has N567LT listed and below it is the plane Randy died on with no info on it:

The Bonanza that Randy died in was the 7th plane build on the assembly line after this one(or during the same time) which is D-4137 (with pictures):

Didn't someone put some pics up awhile ago of Tommy at the front of the bus speaking on the telephone? I think there were two and I thought in one of them you could see Andy in the driver's seat from the back.
That's about the closest I've come to seeing a pic of the guy.

Yeah,I remember when this was 1st posted & Now,I just moved Right next to a Small Airport where I have often seen (in the pst 2 months Ive been here) a few Beechcrafts /single engine planes.
Needless to say Thats the 1st thing I think everytime I Hear,see one!(This Airport is Litterally like 1000 yards away...Strange)

Thanks to Quatro and Kevin for all the info. So the Bonanza was meant to be flown with extra care at any time? ....poor Randy & Rachel.
Might not be Aycock in that photo. Rudy tells how he took over as bus driver for the 'Diary' tour. My mental image of him is a bit like Tito's - Rudy describes him only as a 'bespectacled Southerner'. Any photos of that guy have been kept very underground to say the least.

No not really,took about 20 minutes,I was amazed at what I found. I did a search on Buddy Holly then typed in N567LT and it took me to the website showing all the V-tail Bonanza's.No I don't have a picture of Mr.Aycock,maybe should do a search on him sometime too,Glad you all like the info.I thought it was interesting but sad at the same time thinking, man why did Randy and Rachael get on the stupid plane while looking at pics of the plane!. I will never forget that day,it was double wammy for me, first hearing that afternoon that Randy died by these 2 guys who later that night stole my first guitar and the next morning saturday I was bummed and reading the Burbank newspaper about Randy,still have it even thought it's worn out somewhat.Regards,kevin

Thanks yes it sucked,Funny that you say about about Randy when you see any kind of small aircraft fly over your house,I do the same thing.Yes may Randy,Rachael and Andrew R.I.P,I think that even though many don't like Andrew and I can understand that,I think Randy(even though I never met the man)may have just smiled down because of your comment,to me he appeared as a very nice positive person whom I believe would forgive Andrew and I would like to think that if we want to make Randy proud,would be to be positive towards each other as much as we can instead of hatred which I think is the best way to honor Randy in his memory which is being more like Randy in my book or as cool! .Regards,Kevin
