For those who are interested, found some pics of the inside of the 1959RR amp:

To my suprise the amp comes with Svetlana EL34 tubes instead of the big bottle EL34/6ca7 tubes found in the original. Anyway the inside looks very descent build!

looks like a computer on the inside... the vintage modern really looks like a comp on the inside. lol

Also interesting thing is that the owner of the amp thinks it sounds pretty dark. If we can assume that the amp is a faithful repro then I wonder if that cascade mod was the only mod done to Randy's amp because usually all 4-holers are very bright sounding amps.

I don't like seeing the inside. It is like a person, it can look and sound all nice on the outside and then you probe within and it is all just nuts and bolts!

You'll get used to it when using those beasts in the proper way unless you have a guitartech on the road to do it for you. It's not unusual for me to fry some tubes so usually I don't have the back cover attached so I can acces quicker. :lol:
Btw check out the pic below, the amp at the left has no back plate attached either and the back plate of the white amp was attached just with some tape (cool idea) as it seems, probably to have quicker acces too. 8) I think the 1959RR should have come out with that tape too. :P

I always wished I could play through three 100 watt full stacks cranked on 10..... (outside of course)

my 50 watt plexi on 10 (again outside) is pretty much deafining and will render you sterile if you are too damn close for an extended period of time :wink:

I used to have a early 70's 100 watt plexi super bass and the most I ever had it up to was like 7 or so and it was unbelieveably loud.. even with ear plugs you couldn't take it and I love loud music to boot

I don't think that Randy had those 3 heads on 10. Even in a big concert hall to stand a few feets in front of them would make it very impractical...... Just like it would be today. So I think those three heads you see above are just used as poweramps only to amplify the sound of a fourth Marshall (which is cranked and connected to a dummy load) behind the stacks. The same like EVH did it. Hence Randy used the 'variac' idea from Ed also when recording Blizzard so why not the dummy load setup. :wink:

I think you missed the point, I couldn't care less about what settings Randy (god bless em) was using

it would be the settings I was using !

that's what the volume knob on your guitar is for, it's like a variable gain control

and you just turn the tone control to zero and go for the ted nugent feedback solo

and furthermore when you go on break you just leave your guitar leaned up against the speaker cabs on 10 feeding back for 10 or 15 minutes
just to show the audience how much you love them (been there)

and what the fuck do you mean impractical, it's rock -n- roll not classical music and it's meant to be played on 10 (or in some cases 11)
