That is a nice sounding Marshall! It seems like you could do quite a bit of signal chaining configurations using the main signal as your foundation and get a wide palette of tones.

The economy is slumping heavily here in the States, so either the prices will begin to come down or only the rich will own anything guitar related.

It sounds good. But nowhere near Randy's '81 live sound.
To me a straight Superlead (without cascade) pushed by good overdrive/Eq sounds better.

Agreed. Besides, it is impossible to reinvent the unique circuitry inside of Randy's brain and hands....

the impractical side of me lusts for this amp with an unbridled passion.
"it's so pretty. i've got to have it."
the realistic side of me has no real need for it. i have a couple of combo amps that serve me well and that's all i really can use.

good luck to those who are angling for one though.

But Frank, think about cranking it up all the way, turning the gain all the way up, then walloping an A5 chord. That sound. That'd make it all worth it, right?

You're right. I'm in the same boat. I've got a 100W combo that is perfect for me right now. It's not like I'll be playing Madison Square Garden any time soon, anyways.

I just heard they only make 100 for the U.S. Market only.

Same for me here Frank, as cool as these amps look, there is no practical need for me either. Already have a few 'signature' Superleads.

I would be more interested in one of those cabs if they were loaded with Altecs. But I heard these cabs are loaded with GT-75 celestions. So nevermind.

and yes that is a ZW overdrive as far as i can see.

I read it several places, but couldn't find a confirmation at http://www.marshallamps.com though.
Anyway this rumor will help sure to start selling quickly!

I found this post at the Metro-amp board:

The clips sound great, but I'm surprised that nobody here has noticed that the head cabinet is wrong. The top edge of the head cab on the reissue is too fat. Randy's was the same as the late 70's heads. Also, if you look at the tribute model, it has a JCM 800 screen on the back where Randy's was like the standard models of the late 70s with a wood and screen panel. The cutout on the control panel is not shaped right either.

Just a nit I know, but since they went to such great lengths to get the innards right, I wonder why they didn't redo the head cab as well? Looks like they took a JCM 800 head cab and put a plexi-style front panel on it.

I think these are very valid questions/remarks here.....
