Randy & Jan

Post by Randy Magic »

Hi Gang - Someone suggested I post a pic of Jan and Randy, I came across a polaroid from 1976, or so. This pic was taken in Jan's parent's living room, Burbank. Hope you like it, this one seems to be the best shot I can find that is only of the two of them. I'll keep an eye out for a better pic, polaroids are not that great.

Of course...I have not seen any pics of them posted before on the net - has anyone else? Just curious, would love to see other pics of them I have not seen before.

Also, please do NOT copy or post this elsewhere - just provide a link to this thread, instead. Thanks.

Gary

Hello Again,

Thought I'd post a pic from Peter's site that shows what Jan looks like today, she's on the far left (it was easier than finding a recent pic from the family album).

Yes, that is Jodi in the pic as well - they were all friends in the 70's. As I said before...Jan ended up dating Jodi's brother Paul, while Randy went to Jodi. The film should be pretty spectacular as Peter has been able to interview many folks that have never been before.

I don't mean to sound like a moron here, but who exactly is Jan? It's a name I hear all the time, but can't place.

Sorry about that Simon, I thought folks knew this info. Jan is my Aunt and Godmother, and we were very close when I was young - this is the main reason I was around Randy alot as a kid.

Jan and Randy dated for several years (approx 1972-1977), and had talked about getting married during the peak of their relationship (about 1975/6). Jan also psuedo-managed Randy/QR in the very beginning (she had a car), and eventually ended up working in the record business for a while in the late 70's/early 80's. My grandather (her dad) financed the very first QR t-shirts, like the one in the other pic I posted here before.

BTW - QR played a show in the living room shown in the picture above, for Jan's birthday in 1975. Talk about a small venue!

Frank - the new baby is great, smiles alot, and cries very little. I am very happy. My greatest wish would have been to introduce my children to Randy, it is sad that it will never happen. When I was looking for the posted pic I was easily transported back to the mid-70's and a flood of memories overwhelmed me - I guess I still have trouble accepting the fact that he is gone, even this many years later. I could not even talk about Randy until just a few years ago, so, sorry if my participation here is sporadic. However, I feel the movie will be everyones greatest dream come true, especially mine. Peace.

Thanks Gary. A lot of these things are/were sort of implied, but I never really knew for sure and never wanted to assume. Thanks for the pic!

hey gary, sporadic is okay. just don't be a stranger. i'm glad the little one is such a joy. and thanks for explaining the gary/jan connection. didn't know that part. i saw jan at lori hollens recent birthday party at dakota films. i've never had a chance to introduce myself though. she was sitting with paul and i didn't want to intrude.

hey, try to make the memorial in march. i'd really like to meet you.

frank.

Well thats great Gary :) thanks for clearing it all up, i thought Jodi was the only girlfriend Randy had.

But it is great to see more peices of Randys history peiced together, i mean when i first started on UltimateRhoads i only knew that Randy Rhoads was a brilliant guitarist, lived in LA, played for Ozzy Osbourne and Quiet Riot and that was it, now everything is peicing up :D

And congrats on the kid :)

Quite amazing. It takes one minute to develop a Polaroid picture and it took about 30 years to see it here.

By the way, Gary, your watermark "PLEASE!! NO COPIES!!" is the best one I have seen :D
