Was randy's main Les Paul pure stock or was it modded in any way? or is it even a Gibson, or was it a custom guitar made to look like a Les Paul?

Unbeleivable! it was basically stock with a few cosmetic changes....damn he can make a stock guitar sound that good and a les paul...further proof that he was the best.
I love mine.

It's such a solid guitar. Mine is an '05 and doesn't have that great warn in look like his did. Only time and a lot of thrashing it around will get that down. With high gain, you get great sustain and can pull some pretty crazy noises out of them, even on stock pups.

Gibson 'stock pickups are some of the best out there.

Rice, what is the color of your Les Paul?
I think I'm going for the white.. I was going for the black one first

hey stewie,
the pickups in the Epiphone Les Paul Custom are pretty good all things considered, in fact i really like the sound that axe has and ive never paid much attention to all the people who say they're too muddy etc, but the truth is i cant quite get the clarity and overal quality i want from my tone.
My equipment is all fairly good... epiphone use the same pickups for all they're guitars as far as i know so its not like they give much attention to using a set the suits the guitar model etc. The pickups are most likely to be the week link in my tone.
so overal the pickups are pretty good they just wont get you 100% top rate tone, wether the guitar itself can do that remains to be seen but ill soon find out.
My les paul is arctic white, back when i bought it i didnt like sunburst colours so i thought id go with white. I think epiphone do ivory coloured les pauls now.
if your gonna buy one though id deffineatly test it in store. Epiphone seem to keep changing their mind about what woods to use in construction. you could get any combination of tops and bodys using mahogany alder or maple...
