Randy Number 7

My daughter just came running into the livingroom screaming that Ozzy and Randy are on tv.
Turns out that it was a VH1 classic Rock Band Countdown on the Greatest Guitarists. I think that it was a countdown of the top ten. I got a little pissed that he was number 7, then the resident idiot tells me "there are people better than yourRandy Rhoads." What an ass. I doubt if his beloved Nikki Sixx will make the top 50 of bass players, IMO.
Next hour will be the Greatest Frontman. I'll have to check the listings to see when this comes on again.
Thought I'd share.

those things can never really be taken seriously in my opinion. First of all its just a certain group of people that work there's opinion. Nothing is so certain that it is "oh he is 5, she is 9" etc. Every guitar player has something different. That is why it is so hard to specify which player is greater than the other. They all have different styles. So that crap is a joke anyway. you can't compare guitar players. Some have better technique, some have better feel, some have better stage presence, some have better tone, and on and on. I am 15 years old and I have come to realize that guitar players are really just a combination of what/who they listen to. The different things you listen to influence your playing. Randy listened to lots of rock but also classical which created his unique mix...another example is Marty Friedman, he listened to lots of japanese and hawaiian pop artists/singers etc. and its different for everybody... anyway I'm kinda off topic but yeah the point is, comparing guitar players to each other is unnecessary and doesn't show anything of who is "better" than who.

That'd be David Lee Roth.

those t.v. poles are all rubbish

they only offer the opinions of people who know nothing about music

kerrang is the worst, everytime there is a countdown of any kind you can almost guarentee nirvana will win it and green day will come a close second...

there was a countdown of the 20 most outreagous rockstars once.
ozzy came 19th if i remember correctly, i dont think motley crue even featured. :? Nirvana came first :lol:i know they smashed guitars and did drugs but it doesnt really compare to snorting ants , firing small arms at helicopters or trying to kill your wife IMHO.

Honestly, I think for how long Randy was around, number 7 is a huge HUGE accomplishment.
And DLR.... ugh. I can't be the only one that finds him totally and utterly obnoxious now, can I?
Best frontman oughta be Axl, Layne, or Ozzy.

I know that all these lists are put together by different people, and yada, yada, yada.
I was in a foul mood, as resident idiot dissed Randy again as I voiced my opinion at the TV

Nikki Sixx: Heavy Metal's answer to Vanna White.

Ozzy had/has too little charisma as a frontman, Axl walked off the stage in the middle of a performace too many times to be considered and Layne... well, I actually knew Layne and he was a good singer, but that isn't all that you need to be a good frontman.

David Lee Roth had everything. Yes, he was obnoxious, but he could get a crowd going like nobody's business. And he didn't have to say the name of the town he was playing in to get a reaction.

The next best, in my opinion, would be Bruce Dickenson of Iron Maiden.
