It is almost 24 years since Randy died I remeber it like it was yesterday. I will play my favorite songs and remember him for what he was and how moving his music could be.

Are any of you doing anything to mark this very sad day?

I'll probably play some of his songs as loud as I can and hope he can hear me... Maybe get together with some friends and jam through the ones we all know.

The wife and I will probably listen to some of his music and have a couple of shots of JD in his honor, and think about what an incredible artist the world lost that day.

Randy really was the only guitarist that inspired me to play guitar...and the thing is I wished I could have been around in the 80's...but still I cant really believe Randy is really gone...when you hear his music its like he is still alive, but deap down you know he really isn't, but he is alive in our hearts....Randy where ever you are...I would just like to say...Thank You for all that you have given to me and the rest of the world..you have touched millions of people and we are all proud of you....

I will obviously listen to a bit of music, and play a few of his songs. Its obviously a sad day :(. I will probably stop talking from about 9:00am US Time and about 5pm England time, i think we should all bow our heads for him, and give a silent prayer.

That sounds like it was a great night I hope you had a lot of fun! I have been a drummer for too many years but none of my friends were ever fans of Randy. So I carried the torch for him alone I am glad i know like minded people here to share him with.

the times I've picked up the guitar today, I've
been shredding away to the leads of Mr Crowley, Crazy Train,
Flying High Again, You lookin' at me, Goodbye to Romance.

I even came up with a different way to play the mellow part
before the 2nd solo of Mr Crowley.

Takes away the need of the keyboard ;)

One of the worst parts about today..On all the other forums I go to..The R.I.P Randy threads get turned into Randy vs. EVH

I've just been jammin...I'm going to start writing a tribute song tonight..Maybe I'll post it in a year from now

I realized something today..Randy wouldn't want us to sob about the fact hes gone..He would want us to be happy and remember the good times and not the fact thats hes gone...He'll always be with us in spirit.

It's hard to explain (and believe) but I sat down and taught myself most of Mr. Crowley on my future father-in-law's calssical guitar. Main riff, bass line with the first solo, and the first part of the outro solo. By ear.
