I would have to argue that it's not just that it's digital, and Protools sounds bad. The sound of the recorded tape was imported into Protools, and Protools certainly retains that analog tape saturation. It's the people behind the mixing console that were at fault here.

After all this crap with these two albums, I pretty much had enough of Ozzy. But I'll be damned if Ozzy didn't just release one of the best sounding albums certainly since NMT's. And guess what, Black Rain was recorded and mixed entirely inside Protools by a man who knows what he's doing, Kevin Churko, who learned from the recording master Matt Lange. BR is one of my new favorite albums.

The only reason Randy's albums were shredded into pieces, was to get Bob and Lee's performances off. This was not done to try to improve the sound quality in any way.
