So I was watching Randy's Quiet Riot spotlight solo and got to thinking about those things I've read about Randy's influences. So I watched Mick Ronson's solo spot and was struck by the visual similarities.
While I was writing this I thought about Bill Nelson and found a clip from Bebop Deluxe's Sunburst Finish album which I'd head was influential on Randy as well.
So, enjoy.

Wow!!
I remember reading something about this connection to Randy's image and playing but I never saw the video which showed it. I definitely see it now...

Randy may not have had a record player at home, but he must have had a television or he went to a lot of concerts. He seems to have learned a LOT from Mick Ronson, image-wise.siro_angel wrote:he moves like randy and looks simular to randy..

Re: A Randy influence
Not only image wise, Mick Ronson was a 'noisey' guitarplayer and Randy liked that. (Kelly Garni once said) I hear a lot of Randy there, Mick Ronson was for sure a genius too! The things he did there with his echo (keep in mind this was in the early seventies) is amazing! And even that face of Bowie at the begin of that solo reminds me of Ozzy! The resemblance image wise is indeed stunning!RockyRhoads wrote:He seems to have learned a LOT from Mick Ronson, image-wise.
If I wouldn't know better....... Great stuff there!
