Same old story, guy shows up, making people mad, and dissapears....

However, we have evidence there were cams there, this one is close to stage, not 2nd row though. Randy footage
starts after 2 min, playing the white V, but no sound and very bad image quality:

I'm sure there are bits and pieces out there that those who possess them 1) have no idea that they have them (stored away in old boxes, etc.) and 2) have no care to view it and / or don't understand what they have.

What bothered me a bit about the thread at ultimate metal was that they guy was SMOTHERED right after he made that post...2 or 3 competing factions for the footage, and then those of us not connected to anyone hoping that he would post it to YouTube.

My take is, if it's not posted to YouTube, we won't ever see it. A small handful of those connected to the "privileged few" will see it at annual private viewing parties and then it will fade into obscurity. At this point, no way Sharon is paying anything decent for any footage like that, and no hope of it coming out any other way...unless posted to YouTube.

So, you read this with a little hope and then reality sets in. It's really just too bad. If we were all Hendrix fans, there would be more than enough of this type of stuff that keep popping up every few years to keep us all happy for a long time. But for now, I'm finding my happiness elsewhere and not having any expectations about this.

What has actually popped up of Hendrix? Say, in the last 7 years what NEW Hendrix footage do we have on Video? And going back further, what NEW audio has been released of Hendrix after the BLUES Cd of his? Because I haven't heard/seen any, that actually sounded/looked good, or anything that was better than what was released during his lifetime. I've heard this several times that the Hendrix estate has released so much Hendrix stuff, so I'm wondering what all might I be missing out out on that I need to go check out?

A lot of Hendrix music/playing just kind of sounds like crap to me now that I've been back so heavily into the neoclassical music like Yngwie.

I never liked Hendrix. Good guitarist that had superb feel and creativity. He is the exact opposite of Yingwee and 99.98% has no idea who the latter is lol.

I liked Hendrix a lot when I was a teenager. I used to give Hendrix way to much credit back then. He for sure inspired a lot of the people that I think are better than him, such as Yngwie and Steve Vai.

I think a big deal was made about Hendrix because how many people were really doing much with Lead guitar soloing before Hendrix?
I guess we had a few in 1969 like Tony Iommi, Jimmy Page, Clapton, and your old Blues guitarits like Albert King... but there wasn't many, and even those that were, were mostly Blues based.

I don't think Virtuoso guitar skill/playing started coming out until maybe when Eddie Van Halen came on to the scene, I think Yngwie was there at the same time as well starting out, and I guess you could maybe include Judas Priest, The Scorpions, and of course Randy after he joined Ozzy.

I think LUCK had a lot to do with Hendrix.... I mean, how GREAT would Hendrix have been if he didn't have Eddie Kramer there doing all the recording Wizardry that he did? How great would Hendrix have became if he would not have had any access to all the effects he used, the Wah, the Univibe, etc...

And how well known and how remembered would Hendrix have been or become had it not been for playing Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock, burning his guitar at Monterrey, or all the "showmanship" theatrics that he did onstage???

I mean, take away ALL of those things, and think of what we would have been left with....

I think we would have just been left with a guy that played basic Blues guitar, all be it sped up a bit, with a lot of Jazz like improvisation.

With that said, he does have a few songs which I think stand the test of time, and those are:

Little Wing
Machine Gun
Are You Experienced
Angel
Castles Made Of Sand
The Wind Cries Mary
Voodoo Child

And, those are really the only Hendrix songs I care about.
And even with that said, I prefer the Stevie Ray Vaughan version of Voodoo Child, and I prefer the Skid Row version of Little Wing, both better than the Hendrix originals, both in singing and guitar playing.

I think Hendrix gets a lot of credit because He was an innovator, with the help of Eddie Kramer, and because of his flashy theatrics and being in some of the right places at the right times, and because before Hendrix came along there just really wasn't many other players doing solos other than Blues players.

Of course this is coming from me, a guy that HATES/Loathes the Beatles, but LOVES the Rolling Stones.

Dude you're severely undercutting the creativity and ability of Hendrix. You give all of the tools he had to someone else and it doesn't guarantee anything great.

Hendrix had the gift, a vision and the ability to bring it all to reality. Of course others came along that may be technically better or a wilder imagination but without the initial foundation, being Hendrix, I doubt guitar would have grown the way it has.

Kramer was involved because Hendrix was great... not the other way around.

In my opinion, anyone who started listening to rock guitar after Eddie (which is 99.999999% of everyone here) will always have a hard time understanding why he is the guitar legend. Clapton walked off the stage shaking because Hendrix was so good it rattled him.

Not to mention that Fender planned to discontinue the poor selling Stratocaster until Hendrix came along.
