Amazing how something can look so unfashionable while not being worn, can actually look really good when worn by the right person.

Suppose that's where the term "you wear it well" came from ;) ?

I think Randy was one of those guys who could wear anything and look good. I think his petite size made it difficult to get clothes to fit him. Most of his stage clothes being made or womens clothes being altered etc. I heard a great story about Hendrix, who was very much the same and liked loud, bright clothes. He was out shopping in the Camden area of London with his PA and these 2 guys started to take the piss while he tried some clothes on. He was getting the black gay card thrown at him and had to remain cool as he had a gig that night. He finished shopping and was chilling out having a beer and in walks these 2 guys from earlier. They recognised Jimi and his PA and continued to mock him. His PA thought in their best of interests it would be a good idea to drink up and leave. But Jimi waited and picked his moment, as the antagonist couple headed for the toilet so did Jimi. His PA followed but the melly was over before it had started Jimi had knocked out both of them ,one was laid out in the urinal and the other was head first in the toilet cubicle with his feet sticking out under the door. Jimi's army training in the paratroopers had come in useful and a couple of choice moves quickly dispatched his hecklers. Don't judge a man by his choice in flamboyent fabrics as he may just be a shit hot guitarist ex-paratrooper called Jimi Hendrix ;-).
That snippet came from a great book called 'Rock Roadie' by the late James 'Tappy' Wright. If you like reading books about the music industry behind the scenes backstage etc. This one covers it all and if you thought Hendrix's death was by misadventure after reading this book you'll be very much mistaken. Highly recommended.
