I got the bootleg called "Bats Head Soup" both on cd and cassette somewhere in '89. That was a while after I heard the Tribute album. I already played some guitar then and figured they probably somehow 'doctored' that solo because the key of that solo didn't make any sense. After I heard the 'Indianapolis' boot (mislabeled 'Montreal' show) I knew for sure what they did. Never understood why they took the solo from another show and speed it up a half tone. Maybe to make it more flashy?

That's a great pic!
From that pic still think Randy tried a Boss OD1 that night. (Did Randy try a Boss OD1 ?)

Cool pic Tom cheers...that Boss OD pedal i wonder if he could get a better tone from this as he has done away with the Echo unit which was used on many gigs.

It's weird how he has added this pedal to his usual effects. Experimenting with it or using it for his solo ?. But it's unusual how the echo unit is not visible when it is normally seen next to his effects board. That OD pedal has been seen in other photos... Not sure if it was the same gig. I think Pat (Flying Dutchman) posted those photos up.

It is clearly visible to me but you have to know where to look for, hence the echo was never placed flat on the ground, the front of the echo was always stacked on something to higher it for easier reading from guitarplayer position. I drawed the visible outlines of the echo unit (bottom right, angled white line) in the photo below, also a little part of the cable going in/out? the echo (short angled yellow line):
