I wonder when this picture was taken. It looks like they wanted to show where things roughly were at the time of the accident.

That photo is very recent as the front of the house had gravel on the ground and no grass in 1982. The snapped pine tree would of been intact and infront of the garage. The fountain, water feature is not there in 1982. If you check this photo from the scene of the crash you'll see the obvious differences.

Yes, that is true. The fountain was not there at the time and that is a completely different bus. I think that photo is just showing the site itself for reference.

Malfunkshun: The Andrew Wood Story was released as a limited theatrical release in 2008. It was released on DVD in January 2012 - apparently there were issues with copyrights for the music used... The DVD was released with the only Malfunkshun record as well as unreleased demos Andy had done by himself.

I would think that the best way to honor Randy's legacy would be a similar release. A DVD of the documentary along with a CD of Quiet Riot demos that would have been on QR 3 and a CD of any personal recordings he may have made of ideas he was coming up with, interview audio and some lesson audio.

Something like this could be a simple, classy way to honor the man and his music. The Andy Wood set is excellently packaged - no hype, just a tribute to a musician and entertainer. The film is such that you get to know who he was and feel the impression he made on those around him. There's a fair amount of footage of Andy himself describing what he was about.

A tribute like this for Randy's family, friends and fans would be nice. No big references to Ozzy. No Guitar World covers and regurgitated interviews. No 'lost guitar of Randy Rhoads' articles, no 'pro-shot concert footage', just a tribute to a legendary musician.

The footage - whatever exists could be released separately as an Ozzy release.

This is the cover of the Andy Wood release - he was an over-the-top kind of guy but the cover is simple and elegant. I think something similar for Randy would be cool - without reference to Ozzy on the cover.

Maybe that's the hold up on the documentary?

Mass Poster, thats the PERFECT thing to do. I would buy that instantly and pay handsomely for it. Why cant they thinnk of these things? Why do only fans come up with brilliant ideas, and not those stupid marketing geniuses.

While you guys were just discussing the price of the RR bio book, KISS just announced another book. What do you make of this price? It's a GIANT book that is 3 feet high and 2.5 feet wide closed. This would be 5 feet across when opened. It's marketed as a high quality, high resolution book that spans their entire history for the mere sum of $3,500.00 pre-order. After the pre-order price you must pay $4,200.00! There are only 1,000 copies. The book is called Monster, which is also the title of the new album this Fall.

I think the idea of the KISS book sounds interesting and very different, but I would never pay that price for that KISS book, I don't care how big it is. But I digress, can't wait for the Randy Rhoads book!

What the hell would one do with a book measuring 5 feet across?

It measures 5 feet across when it is open. I don't think there's a purpose. That's the genius of marketing. No one's ever had a book that big before.

Hahaha, good one Tito, that's hilarious. Paul Stanley's been quoted saying ""You could call it a coffee table book, but if you put legs on it, it is a coffee table." Funny yet true

... a 4 thousand dollar coffee table! It does put the RR book in a different light now, it's a freaking steal! Wow, limited edition/genius marketing/whatever have you- that is a lot of cash for a big ass book!

This is one big ass, honkin' book! Look below. Three band members are standing behind it when opened!

I hope Sharon doesn't get any ideas. :P
