Were many photos taken of the Knoxville show (3/18/82)?

Talk about Randy Rhoads here.

I agree Shockwave. He may have shared one. I reckon whatever they do to portray that final day it's gonna be heavy going to hear it from those who were there, and for all those who were so deeply affected by it.

Hey Dutchman, do you wanna weigh in here with what it was like when you visited Leesburg? Was it just a quiet, peaceful place or did it have a weird vibe to you?

Hey Gus,
Yeah, I can't even remember how I came across Don's interview...I think I just wound up googling the band member's names with 'interview' and that one popped up with Don. An excellent interview, and the guy was very respectful trying not to push Don, who seemed like he wanted to get some things off of his chest. His interview for the doc was lengthy (4 hrs?).
It'd be cool if there was a bonus disc or two for the die hards, and like you said, not necessarily the sorrow, but funny or cool anecdotes these folks have shared. 8)
Cool beans, glad I've shared something here that folks haven't seen. :D

This interview with Don has a few funny memories including his most embarrasing episode which happened during an Ozzy gig.

Thanks Idol. Don is a very interesting guy, and a great player. I still remember the first time I heard the keyboard solo on 'Lost in Hollywood' by Rainbow and thinking 'that can't be just one guy'

Thanks Darin for the props and Gus also for asking me. I am going back to the original question about how many pic sources there are for the show. Though I have found the dicsussion interesting about the hours after leading up to the sad tragedy. I always had mixed emotions about that fan photo and actually the Knoxville photo sets and probably if there was a boot I would have the same feeling.

Far as photo sources, you have to realize Randy had 1000's and 1000's of pictures taken of him. 28 years later we are still getting new photos sources coming out. Right there shows how special he was , an icon in the making. Randy wasn't fully aware of just how many cameras were snapping around him at shows, just how much of a buzz he was making and the real impact he was having.. Again we are seeing this now 28 years later.. though he knew and saw photos of him being taken and I will say video also. That's all I will say about that just that yes he saw it.

Making a long story longer and being long winded I am sure there are more sources than we know documented. I talked about how many sources there may be a while ago on tk but didn't get much back. We know of 3 forsure, maybe a 4th..

Source #1

The first set to surface.

Source #2

Originally posted by Rudy at tk then I posted a larger version without the watermarks from my set.

Image

Source #3

I bought this 8x10 a while ago and you can see how bad his jaws are. Quality if different than the other sources.

Image

Below, a guy was going to sell me a poster then back out. This is a photo of the photo.. so quality is different but it looks frames off of source #3.

Image

Possible 4# source

Below I found a long long while ago and his hairstyle looks very fanned as it did at Knoxville. Looks like a possible different angle and is not included in any other sets.. so it's questionalbe..

Image

how it helped a bit, though I would bet there are more sources from what we are seeing.. fingers crossed..

Thanks TAB. Awesome post 8) Yes, that helps plenty. That's fantastic that even at Knoxville there were at least 3 cameras. Man if we went by only the shots that made it into the mags you'd be thinking probably less than a dozen gigs had photographers at em, but it seems there were cameras at so many, many shows.
Yep, fingers crossed that all remaining photos will surface... and those videos would be cool too

One thing I've noticed about the Knoxville photos is the vest he's wearing. It's obviously new...I'm guessing it entered his wardrobe not too long before this show. It's close in look to the one we see when we all create our posts here, as it didn't zipper or buckle, (as far as I can tell), yet it had a much simpler stud design.
I'll repeat myself yet again, and echo TAB, it really is amazing how many shots there are of the guy, for the short time he had on the stage.
If my calculations are correct, and using the on tour thread Randy Perry created that is shared on this forum, there were a total of 136 shows from touring the BOO album, and 48 shows from the Diary tour for a grand total of 184 gigs with Ozzy. So many have surfaced, and more continue to turn up.
For the sake of wonder, I counted 64 gigs with Quiet Riot, including the reunion shows prior to the Blizzard tour hitting the road. Just 2 shy of 250 gigs between June of '75 and March of '82.
Thanks for the pics, TAB 8)

Great pics TAB! 8)
I think some of them I've seen before, not sure, have to check when I'm home.
He definitely had a different expression on his face compared with most other pics.....

I know I've seen a thread on this last show somewhere!! Ahhhh! Where is it!! I think you are right. If I remember correctly this was the final curtain call photo. I think the third shot is from El Paso, Texas. At least that is what my archives say. It might be labeled wrong of course.

that was the show in Atlanta I believe the night before, since Tommy's drums are the brown/orange color, and the Knoxville show he had the white drums

I can say I bought the photo from the negative in question named the last curtain call that is in better condition than the one scanned aboove from a guy in Atlanta GA that says this was from the Atlanta Omni show not the last curtain call in Knoxville as it was dubbed. Mat21 very good catch, I never noticed it, I dont' know if it's just the lighting or he used different drums.. good eye..

The 3rd pic source I am betting is Knoxville if not it's debateable Georgia. The person I got it from said it was Knoxville, I would bet it was just by the look of his swollen face. The pic you are showing was a boot on ebay created from this photo. I might have other pics of El Paso I am not sure which outfit he used at the moment. I will have to look.

About the studded vest it seemed to appear at the end of January for some shows along with the zipper pocket one that used at the Stanley theater in PA on the blizzard tour. This studded on I believe is the one I saw him play dressed in. Too many years ago. I remember it was black and more bulky than the bilzzard vests. It seems he favored this studded vest through the last weeks of the 1st leg of the tour into the the few shows from the 2nd. He also brought out the arm band suit in the middle of feb. it seems from photo sources. The 1st I saw was Shreiveport La, then he used it for the show Greg M. took shots of.. that was a Texas show. I will say the last 2 shot are always debateable. Though it's an educated guess going on the look of his face and also who I bought them from.

The third and fourth shots T.A. posted, those are no doubt the same show from the look. They look only a second or two apart, but that fourth one is def. a possibility as his hair is really feathered out. As for the El Paso show, he did wear the arm band outfit as he did in the show Gregg photographed, so I would say that's just an album artwork someone made and put on ebay or something.
