OZzy and Randy footage on DVD at the end of the year

I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, hope this is pro-shot footage, a whole show.

Day on the Green would be excellent, or St. Louis. It would also be really cool if it were Cleveland, just so we could actually "see" what Tribute looked like. Given all the talk about the doc going tits-up, this would really be something to celebrate. I'll be watching the Today show and hoping for the best. Part of me doesn't want to get too built up in case it ends up being poor footage, but I can't help it. A pro-shot 1981 concert would be absolutely unbelievable.

My main wish is that if there's an entire show that they just transfer that master onto DVD ASAP, and resist any temptation to dick around with it. If there's an audio commentary from Ozzy planned then please put that into the 'bonus' menu on the DVD. Please DO NOT have Oz reminiscing in the gaps between each song

If the entire thing runs for say 78 mins on the tape, then please let it run for 78 mins on DVD, right from the start of the intro tape until the cheers after 'Paranoid' start to fade. Sorry to rant guys...but I never saw Randy play and I wanna feel like 1981 and 2010 have blended together when I watch.

My take on this is this.
knowing ozzy he wouldnt release anything that wasnt good due to his own image being put at risk. i cant see him releasing something that isnt pro shot.
otherwise he may as well release the Chicago footage which is readily available.

Also as messed up as ozzy is sharon isnt and they wouldnt mistake the after hours footage as anything new. they have used that footage on more than one occasion on other releases.

I dont care what the reasons for releasing it is, even if ozzy has had this footage for 30 years who cares, we may finally get to see randy in all his glory live on stage in 1981 what more could we ask for.

Its about time ozzy released something properly to honor randy. lets hope he goes to town on this an release a proper tribute to randy.

Couldn't have said it better myself! Buying the "Don't Blame Me" vhs so long ago because it claimed "ultra rare footage" and then not only was it something I already had, but it was just clips! I know, begger's can't be chooser's...we'll take what we can get at this point...but I'm with you!

there is no way ozzy could so the vocals over today, his voice is so shot his bands have had to tune to D then to C over the last 8yrs or so since he can't hit anything remotely high anymore.

In the end I think this time around he will have enough respect to show it is what it is and the spotlight is on Randy not on himself.

Well, Don't Blame Me did had ultra rare footage. The clips from After Hours looked like they were directly transfered from the master video tape source. They looked much better than the Crazy Train video.

Be sure to let us know if Ozzy does mention this footage. If Ozzy has something to sell i'm sure it will be mentioned. I just hope this product does end up being released. I'd hate this to turn into another promise which doesn't happen. I cannot understand why Ozzy hasn't mentioned anything or how he has found this live show ?.

Unless Ozzy has multitrack audio for this footage, there's no easy way to redo vocals. More than likely it will be mono, stereo if we're lucky, which would mean there's really no way to redo a vocal track that's buried in the mix.

Tribute came from several soundboard(multitrack) recordings. That's why they were able to do what they did with it.

True. If this live DVD show has a companion recording from the soundboard (which it seems like they would, I would think they recorded every show from the soundboard), then they could replace the vocal tracks. The problem is, Ozzy ain't gonna be able to re-record these vocals now like he did with Tribute, so theoretically they could put the Tribute vocals over this particular show with some creative editing (making up for differences in timing, etc).

Or, we could be really lucky and this could be the Cleveland show and we would have no problems. But, I think it'll end up being "warts and all," as they say. I'm fine with that, and any Ozzy fan worth his salt will know that there's bound to be some lyrical fumbling, vocal cracking, and the sort.

Well to be honest, a stereo board feed and a multitrack recording are two very different things. I highly doubt that they recorded multitrack of every gig. If that were the case, Ozzy could have picked any show he wanted for the Tribute album. Fact is, he was more or less locked into working with the few sources that he had available to him.

I hate to sound pessimistic, but I would be VERY surprised if Ozz had a multitrack companion recording to accompany this new footage. That usually involved bringing out a mobile recording truck in those days. Nowadays, it's very easy for the FOH engineer to pull this off, due to the equipment being so much more consolidated. We shall see I guess, but I wouldn't expect Ozzy to be able to do much tampering with what he's got.

I agree with you, that it will probably be a 'warts and all' affair. I too will be happy with whatever he's got.

Hey guys, not to be a "Buzz Killington" but I'll bet you it is the After Hours stuff. Regardless of the fact that every Randy fan in the world has probably seen it, most versions leave alot to be desired in the audio/video quality department, and the Osbournes have never officially released it in its entirety. I'm sure this "tweet" is just to create a buzz so they make a few more bucks when the product finally does comes out. I have my fingers crossed that it is a whole show of actual tour footage, but I'm not getting my hopes up. If you really think about it, Randy and Ozzy were only just gaining momentum when Randy died, and Blizzard had been out in the states what... a year maybe? That really wasn't alot of time to get the logistics of a pro shot film sorted out, not to mention the costs involved. Ozzy wasn't exactly swimming in dough during that time.

If you go to http://today.msnbc.msn.com/ They already have todays video up with Ozzy, my computer speakers are not working for some reason, so I have no idea what he said. But check out the timeline on the "Today show" and you'll be able to watch the interview for yourself. It's not shown here until 8:35 am, so I'll wait until then and watch the tele. Cheers !
