Right on!
To be honest I had changed the topic title about a year ago because of exactly the same reason, but after the crash it was made undone. Changed it again.
Isnt the supposed Diary footage from "the brothers" shot by them with a vid cam? I am sure we would take anything we can get.

That is if this footage and the brothers exist.

I think if it does exist,Peter probably aqquired it & paid them well for it too.You gotta remember that this has a pretty nice bdget considering its a documentary (tens of thousands) I even think I read somewhere he had a 500,000$ Budget. Not bad considering Ive never heard of Dakota Fims.

Here is the answer:

Does this mean they gave it for free?, or does this mean that Peter can't use that footage?

(to me it's not that import if they asked some money or not, I can undertand if they did though. I want to know if that footage will be released? )
They haven't given it to Peter and never planned to. They never sold it and never planned to. Contrary to what has been said here to get peoples hopes up. I can't answer if someday they will make thier own project with what they have. Nothing right now is in the works sad to say.

Thanks to the Flying Dutchman for answering my questions about footage recently.

The Flying Dutchman said:

The best clue we have from existing Blizzard Po shot is this one from Dave Tangye:
"I know that there was a film recording on the first US Tour, New Jersey or ST Louis show, I am not sure. Not even sure if it ever was released."
This could be:
May 22nd - Checkerdome, St. Louis, MO ~ Blizzard of Ozz Tour

I do think that he is credible, and I believe that something would have been filmed even if it was never intended for general release.

Yeah, it's taken a few weeks. This was just due to experimenting with the best way to transfer the file to the U.S. This included FTP (would take too many hours), regular email attachment (file too big), and email after dividing the file (still too slow). Finally, did it by Memeo!

Unfortunately, no RR. This was a couple of weeks after he died. I put it up partly to give hope. ie. If most hadn't heard of any of the M.S.G. show being filmed, then maybe there's film of Randy-era Ozzy concerts also out there.

Glad you like it!

I got it from a guy several years ago. He just had something basic written on his list like 'Ozzy-1982-news and interviews', and I figured I might end up with a better copy of the 'Diary' rehearsal footage. I was surprised when I found N.Y. on it, but sometimes you just get lucky.
From memory, I think he lived somewhere on the east coast, so yeah, he probably taped it from the original broadcast.

Gus wrote:Hey DMRX, is this being too hopeful? I've just thought, maybe there were some other cities that sent news crews along to get a bit of Ozzy film, like after the controversy of the 'bat' incident. I think that was about January 20, which leaves another 2 months of touring with Randy. Hmmm, I wonder if Pete Margolis has checked that angle?
I think that makes sense for sure. There must be a lot more out there......
Thanks for your effort to share that footage here, it definitely gives hope! :)

I bet the Ozzy camp have footage that they think is too bad for release i.e Ozzy putting on a bad performance and not wanting to show this for obvious reasons. But Dave Tangye has said that a couple of shows had been filmed and have yet to see the light of day. So you can make your own mind up to why these have never been used. It always made me think that the Crazy Train video never had any live footage. Just loads of stills of Randy and the PDV flying along the rail track. They could of shown shots of RR but they didn't ?. It would be cool to see PM's docu using some fresh footage we only hope that this will happening.

If the Rhoads give green light the Osbournes are more than willing to release anything Randy related. Out of 'respect' they don't. Very unfortunately the 'change of guard' theory is applicable. The truth is hard..... The Osbournes are more on our side than people realize.

Mentioned today over at TK-

Ozzy has twitted the following: "Just watched never before seen footage of Randy and me from 1981. I'm speechless. I will share with you later this year on a live DVD."
