Its interesting to see others views on the matter at hand

Lol at forums being killed by social media. No way, not even remotely true IMO. All the forum sites I visit are still thriving with THOUSANDS of post per day.

Harmony Central was my main forum for the last 15yrs but they completely messed up there site and the place is dead now because of that sole reason. Up until about about 6 weeks ago there were probably 5-10k post a day there. The Gear Page is also great, ultimate guitar, guitarampboard, many others that I won't even post that have nothing to do with music that I frequent and they have thousands of members posting every day.

Forums are nowhere near dead, if a place is dead its because it never caught on or was run badly.

Yeah other forums will carry on being viewed and kept active. This forum is my concern, when you have other RR pages on facebook that are basically coming to this site, ripping off the contents and posting it up over at FB. Hey its well popular.... Yeah everyone who has a FB account, they just click on the RR tag and they can see if anything is happening. Ultimaterhoads and TK started it for the fans and Randy's name is known in the media's eye www. No Thanks to the people who kicked it all off. So the regular RR fan cannot be bothered to check this site they'll just go to the FB page for quickness. So my point about forums becoming stale and forgotting is eventually going to happen sadly. Myspace was a prime example of a popular media site falling flat on its arse..

I still visit a few times a week..posting is a different story though. I'm sure there are quite a few others like me. There are normal ebbs and flows for the site, but I agree, it has died down lately. It's up to us to keep the flame alive.

You're right, once Harmony Central died, I went over to the guitarampboard.
I was late to the party on this forum having discovered it fairly recently. I dig it though, I'm a huge Randy fan.

We are usually more lively but the last 2 years we had an Ozzy boxset, 2 record store days singles (FHA & Believer), 2 + books and a QR documentary. Do you like QR shows with Randy? To me, besides what I have mentioned, these shows give us a feel what it was like to be with Randy jamming out in a sweaty club. I wish an early UK date video could be unearthed and released. Or just unearthed. Bob's grail stuff would be nice too. I'm really hoping for the Entertainment Tonight footage (at least 3 songs DOAM) to be released. Once again, I don't care how it get's released. As long as it does! Who makes money off whom?

Maybe we should start digging out more about Quiet Riot? I mean, there´s most likely quite a bit to know- that is not so often talked about. One think I´d like to point out, that I never knew before...This came from Bernie Torme -interview, was the fact Janick Gers (White Spirit/Gillan/Iron Maiden  ) Met Randy whilst on Blizzard tour 1980 and spent some time talking with him. To me this is interesting, since I remember that Adrian Smith liked Randy´s playing a lot too!!!

If people like QR W/ Randy, there was a few different audio shows besides the dvd shows. Obviously its great to see and watch a pro-shot video but tapes/lessons are pretty cool. I'm not going to act macho and say anyone that doesn't listen to any/every show randy did isn't a fan. I just know how obsessed I'm with Randy's playing. There were some shows on Dime-a-dozen but they weren't on there or active, when I checked few months ago. I had a 1979 show w/ some songs that had some Ozzy riffs and an 1980 reunion show but they were lost when my computer died. I'm not sure what we have on here on UR. Anyone?

i'll be honest - i'm a huge Randy fan and have been for a long time - but the reason i don't visit very often anymore? The level of "in denial" demonstrated by a few on this forum is an 11 on a 10 scale. Personally, i find it VERY sad.
I remember a month or two ago, there was someone who posted that "if they got to Ozzy, they could pull some Randy info..., etc, etc, etc..". I got news for you - you ain't getting NOTHING. And the denial factor in the responses was off the charts. I could list countless examples. I don't have a problem with it - it has just made me not visit the site much anymore.
But the fact is - both Ozzy's circle and Randy's family has attended to the legacy of Randy pitifully, disgracefully.

I'm always hopeful something of more value will be unearthed.

By 'denial', are you referring to people insisting that there is film that WILL come out or other such stuff? If so, I agree.

Here I disagree. We have all kids of stuff related to Randy Rhoads. I think the fanbase just feels they deserve more. Personally I think everyone should be thrilled with what you've got and just be happy if something else appears.

When TK was going strong, new stuff popped up almost daily. That doesn't happen anymore because we've seen most of what is available. The other thing is that the core of that site (and this site) have moved on to real world things as we've gotten older.

Want to keep the place alive? Dig up old archive discussions and discuss them again. Unfortunately most people will dig them up, read them and move on without comment OR the older members won't want to talk about something they've discussed to the nth degree in the past.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm willing to do my part to keep things alive here by answering questions of the younger members and commenting further on archived comments that are brought back up for discussion.
