Re: God Bless Ozzy Osbourne
Rokket, have you heard Bob's tapes?
Re: God Bless Ozzy Osbourne
No I haven't. The one person, besides Bob, that I know who has heard a little of one of them is Margolis, who was apparently "amazed" that this stuff existed. Is it studio quality? no, is it as good as one of the best sounding boots out there? could well be, I'd assume Bob had a pretty good high end Sony cassette recorder back in the day. The quality could probably be improved even more in a studio.Paul Wolfe wrote:Rokket, have you heard Bob's tapes?
Who knows, one day the Osbournes might allow him to release them, or even put them on the internet for free.....he can't do either without permission or run the risk of landing in hot water.
Re: God Bless Ozzy Osbourne
Bob won´t give his tapes away for free. Neither should he do that, but I bet he´s not that much after the money... At least not compared to Sharon. Money talks, never mind the RR-legacy...

If all he wanted was money, he could have sold them for a few thousand to Sharon, she wanted to buy them.stealaway wrote:Bob won´t give his tapes away for free. I believe the 'banter' would have been used to whet appetites and to gauge the interest in the release of the music.rokket wrote:If all Sharon wanted to do with the tapes was have "banter" between songs, thank god Bob didn't sell them, what a waste that would have been. What about all the unheard music??
Did the box sell very well? I doubt it, even with the new solo and the 'new' footage. So what would lead anyone to believe that outside of the membership of UR there are people who would buy such a release?
There is a 4 disc set of unreleased VH demos on the bootleg circuit with some great playing on it. It's amazing (to me) to hear the development of songs I've heard for years. While Ed hasn't done much in years, his contribution to rock guitar can't be disputed. Regardless, today's generation could care less about Van Halen and new releases by them will not likely sell very well.
What is interesting is that there is such a resource of Ed's playing available online. You know that someone in the Van Halen camp is aware of it, yet it is still out there.
That is why I believe that if Bob cared about Randy's legacy (or his own for that matter) he'd release something from this collection of tapes. Just two songs to build the excitement! Show Sharon that there is an interest and maybe she could be persuaded to give Bob the royalties he wants...
It's just a thought, and I doubt anyone involved would see the validity of such an idea, but there it is, for what it's worth.
Re: God Bless Ozzy Osbourne
Except the fact that if Bob released a song or two, he'd most likely be sued, he can't do anything with the tapes without permission from the Osbournes, he can't even give them away.Paul Wolfe wrote:I believe the 'banter' would have been used to whet appetites and to gauge the interest in the release of the music.rokket wrote:If all Sharon wanted to do with the tapes was have "banter" between songs, thank god Bob didn't sell them, what a waste that would have been. Re: God Bless Ozzy Osbourne
This is getting old... you hate Sharon, so you will only see the negative. I see the reality that most likely there would be no lawsuit.
Bob can make a claim next week that someone hacked his computer and stole some of his recordings he'd made digital copies of. Four months later these recordings begin to appear online... BAM! No chance of a lawsuit because the trail to Bob is laundered and completely erased.
Then again, I've never read about anyone suing over the VH demos I mentioned. They were not 'officially' released, yet they are available... it can be done, and should be done. Either that or Bob should shut the hell up about what he has and won't release. The only thing he gains from that type of action is people like you, Rokket, talking shit about Sharon.
Remember, if Sharon hadn't gone to the Le Parc hotel and talked Ozzy out of his drunken stupor, Randy Rhoads wouldn't have written the music on Blizzard or Diary. Giver her a little credit and quit talking shit with every post.

I'm not getting into the taking sides thing but I think it should be remembered that Sharon was doing her job. She was employed by her father to protect his interest by looking after Ozzy. Ozzy still had a wife and family in Stafford, England and he returned to them when he left the US. Sharon remained in America working for her father, her brother David Arden managed the Blizzard of Ozz and HE flew Randy over to the UK. Sharon remained in the US and had NO involvement with the band until after the first album was in the can and the UK Blizzard tour was underwayPaul Wolfe wrote:This is getting old... you hate Sharon, so you will only see the negative. What I'm saying is that if Bob really wanted to share the brilliance of the original band, he could share it. The scenario I dreamed up is one of many possible ways that he could do this. The ultimate fact is: Bob wants money for his tapes, without money changing hands he won't allow anyone to hear his alleged tapes...
Another thing I'm saying is that Bob doesn't care about the legacy of the Blizzard of Ozz band, the legacy of Randy Rhoads or the legacy of Bob Daisley as much as he cares about the almighty dollar. This belief comes from his actions, Rokket.
But you go ahead and blame Sharon for all the evils in the world. I just don't buy what you're selling and I don't expect you to buy my point of view either.
Let's just agree to disagree.

Re: God Bless Ozzy Osbourne
Paul i'm surprised that your saying this, i thought you had a bit more respect for Bob. I honestly couldn't give a shit about Bob's 'Grail tapes' they are very much like the box set DVD footage. Well overated and everyone thinks they'll be well awesome. Yeah i can understand that every fan would like to hear them, to make there own minds up. But don't believe the hype, if these had been any good $haron would of bought these and used them. She knows good business and they would of made great extra dvd / cd material for the future. So my hunch is a good one, i predicted the diary footage would be average, going by the trailer and it was balancing on poor. But it did sucker a few fans to go out and buy it. If anything it got our tongues wagging and gave us something to speculate / ponder on.Paul Wolfe wrote: Another thing I'm saying is that Bob doesn't care about the legacy of the Blizzard of Ozz band, the legacy of Randy Rhoads or the legacy of Bob Daisley as much as he cares about the almighty dollar. .
Yeah Paul the $ Dollar will always be king. Imagine your christmas without a job and very little coming in ?. But your one of the fortunate ones and lady luck is looking after you. Merry Christmas

You kidding me? I'm 15 and When Van Halen releases their new album I'm buying it the first day it comes out!Paul Wolfe wrote:I believe the 'banter' would have been used to whet appetites and to gauge the interest in the release of the music.rokket wrote:If all Sharon wanted to do with the tapes was have "banter" between songs, thank god Bob didn't sell them, what a waste that would have been. Randy died because God wanted Guitar lessons
Re: God Bless Ozzy Osbourne
If Bob didn't care about the legacy of Blizzard, Randy or himself and only $$$ we would have seen at least 3 books from him all about Randy, but to date, not one. And even the one thats coming out isn't all about Blizzard and Randy, it's an autobiography that covers every band he's ever been in. And he would have sold those tapes to Sharon for any amount she cared to offer, even $5000 if it's just money you want.Paul Wolfe wrote:rokket wrote:I'm talking shit, and you put forward a theory on how to release the tapes with an elaborate "my pc was hacked" scenario...!!!
