Wasn't the RR1 suppose to be better than his Concorde? I though that was the reason he made the RR1. I don't know about the RR5 as far as sound goes, but it looks like the RR5 combined both guitars into 1.

It was supposed to be an improvement. The Concorde was a prototype.
The only difference was that his black Jackson did not have a tremolo on it.

black one was maple neck thru with poplar wings.....concorde was all maple
body shapes were very different....where the neck joins the body on the black one it would hang differently to the concorde
The design changed on the black one because randy thought the white one look to much like a gibson (I assume people would comment on it) so they lengthened the upper wing to make it more extreme looking
