I don't know why any fans would give anyone crap (that knew Randy personally) for selling some unique collectible. It's what we the fans would appreciate. We'll take care of it and we're happy to buy them. I'm not bitching about anyone ... I'm just having trouble understanding why someone would get angry about it. What, because they feel someone would be making money off of Randy's name? Not if it's a unique and very rare item from someone that was friends with him or knew him very well. It's not the same as some dude sitting in his room creating fake merch and calling it rare to make large amounts of money. I don't know.

Another member brought up a great point. He said that Randy merch used to be really, dirt cheap years ago. Now everyone is trying to take advantage and charging a boat load for rare photos and other things. The price has been going up ever since the doc and boxed set were mentioned. Rare photos are awesome, but they can be duplicated easily and I personally can't afford $50 - $150 for each photo. What's worse?

I'm just babbling again. I apologize if anyone thinks I'm talking out of my ass.

krgarni wrote:Hi Mr. One. There was never any money that went or was ever given to the scholorship fund. To my knowledge. All I ever heard was how pissed they were that they hadn't sold enough tickets, I wasn't involved in that part of things. It's really not my business anyway. I was there for the same reason as Kelle Rhoads, for Randy. The last show I did, I drove from Las Vegas to Hollywood, went on stage, did one song, got in my car, and drove all the way home. I did it only to support Kelle and the family, and be there for Randy (Rhoads). And, never expected a dime. I didn't care. As to your last comment about selling stuff on line, I've never done that. I did sell a DVD which I believed was worth the price because it contained cool pictures and a portion of a never before heard tape, pre QR. And limited to 100 copies. I won't take your rather pointed words as any attack on me. I did find it sad though, that when Kevin put up the real McCoys on E-BAY for collectors, he got a ton of shit for it, and, eventually yanked it down. IF, I did ever sell anything, it would be of course the real thing. That way you guys don't have to waste time figureing out if it's real or not. Old Rockstars are not made of money. I'm always surprised to hear that many people think I'm rich. Ha! It's only Wednesday and I've been to the pawn shop twice this week. (Rent's due. Ummm 2 weeks ago). Kevin was unfairly villified 'cause like me, sometimes you need a few extra bucks. And, instead of beating the pavement in 105 degrees, looking for a job. I sit home and write a book. For all of you. Then you will have every question you ever wanted to know, answered about Randy. Look for me to drop off the face of the earth when I'm done. Oh! My personal customer service department would like to know if I have answered your questions satisfactory.
Well played. And thank you!

Kelly,
I don't mean to be a dick, but I'm probably gonna sound like one anyway. It does suck that it's come down to you having to visit the pawnshop on a frequent basis, but I'm guessing you made the decision to be unemployed to write this book, right?
You are a professional photographer as well as a licensed paramedic, correct? One thing to keep in mind is that there are many here who have families and homes to support, who go bust their nuts for 40hrs plus a week, for less than their true worth, who never were rock stars or knew famous people.
Hell, there are some here who have had to part with Randy memoribilia of their own to make ends meet.
What I'm trying to say is play the hand you have been dealt in life, as oppossed to complaining about it. If you have to pick up some hours at the local WalMart so you don't have to pawn off your shit to make rent, then so be it. These days a lot of folks are in the same position.
Whenever I put on Blizzard or Diary, what a wonderful, delicate furious beast.... I MISS you, man!

Kelly, don't ever let anyone try to shame you. You are the only one who truely knows your own heart and circumstances. This is your life, your memories, your possessions. I wonder sometimes if some people realize that Randy was human and not God? You are doing nothing that people don't do with their own parents' possessions after they pass on. It's life and it happens. People ought to treat their families, friends and neighbors as good as they expect their 'idols' to be treated. Love and admiration is one thing, but obession and judgement is a whole other ballgame. I ask that you don't go into oblivian, as you are not just an old friend of Randy's, but an intelligent, insightful and personable person. It actually tickles me that you stated Kelle played that very same gig and yet you got heat for it. Bullshit. I cannot stand bias. I hope you have a great day.

PS. I always light a white candle on the 9th of every month to pray for my dad and loved ones who have passed including Randy. I will light another one today and include you in that prayer.

Thank you Honey. And, you are quite welcome Mr.One. For Mr./Madame Whoopie, I actually did apply for jobs at the places you mentioned. But no luck. Nevada has the highest unemployment rate in the country right now. People are pretty miserable around here, as we normally have a bullet proof economy here as we are in the business of vices. My photography business is still going but it has gone from 10 to 12 appointments per day to 2 or 3 a month. And of all things, digital is to blame. When I hear about someone getting married and try to hustle up a job out of it, they always say the same thing, "We're just going to have our friends take pictures". The models, just have a friend shoot them and then photoshop them. I like digital, but, thanks alot! I have not been certified as a medic in many years. I wouldn't feel comfortable going out without compltely going through the whole course again. That takes months. I'm not complaining, just making observations that sometimes we all have to sacrafice a few things to get by. More so, I was defending Kevin. This book takes up most of my time. I usually start writting at 5 at night and go till 12 or 1. Then I spend all day researching or interviewing. Today, I interview the drummer Randy and I had in the band "Smokey". I have already interviewed Smokey himself and it was a really great load of info. Randy liked how Smokey cut his hair, and I have a picture of him cutting Randy's hair! So, in regards to working, I am unemployed by choice. Books are alot of work! I would also like to make a point to say I don't think you came off like a dick.

For those who weren't around at the time, Kelly was hurting for money a few years back and decided to sell his personal scrapbook of Quiet Riot memorabilia. Someone at .tk came up with the idea of the membership making donations to Kelly so he wouldn't have to sell his personal scrapbook. Kelly, in return, photographed the book and gave a DVD copy to each person who donated to him. So, Kelly got to keep his book, we (the fans) got to have a copy of everything in that book + a recording of Randy playing pre-Quiet Riot.

Now then, Silver Rhoads, if you think that fans give Kelly crap when the subject of selling something comes up, it's equally bad when a fan sells something related to Randy. The 'fans' in the RR community can be heartless in their comments.

I had a copy of that DVD from Kelly. I had donated $45. So a couple years ago I was unemployed on a disability and wanted to buy something for my wife for our anniversary. I put my copy of that DVD on eBay and the crucifixion began within hours. At the time I was banned from .tk so I couldn't even defend myself. I wasn't 'cashing in' on 'exclusive' RR memorabilia, I simply needed money and asked the same amount I gave for it.

Fortunately, there are decent people in this community and someone helped me out by buying that DVD and giving me a little extra for my wife. I will always remember that, because it was a friend helping a friend.

Kelly, I appreciate you writing this book and would help you out in the interim if I could. I can keep you in my prayers. You are doing a nice thing for us by putting your memories on paper. Hopefully Oprah will pick it up as a feature of her book club and you'll be a household name in another year!

I have great respect for a lot of people in my life, but if they say or do something that doesn't sit well with me, I call them on it. Now, I'm not siding with whoopiecat or Mr. Garni. I just believe people are entitled to their own opinions and the right to voice them as they see fit. 8)
