When I first found this site, I was interested for the same reasons that most guitar players would be, although to be honest I found it looking for information on Jake E. Lee. Once I joined and started posting, I found the real treasure of this site, that is meeting wonderful people from different parts of the world who also happen to be fans of Randy and music in general. From a guitar player's perspective, there will only ever be one Randy Rhoads, and to be honest I would rather be known for sounding like Ted (me), than for someone to say "you sound just like Randy Rhoads", not that I could ever do that anyway. The thing I have always loved about Randy is that despite his fame he was from all accounts one of the nicest human beings God has ever blessed us with. From a musicians stand point I have always loved his dedication to the instrument and the undeniable fact that he just had that little extra something that made you want to look at and listen to him. To be honest, if you are a serious rock player you know who Randy Rhoads is, one thing I have learned about this site is that there are alot of people who know far more about Randy (maybe not Jake) than I ever will, I comment if I have something to offer to the thread, but not if nothing more needs to be said. Again, the real treasure of this site and the main reason I come here, are the people I have met here. The stories are interesting, the amount of info on Randy is amazing, and the love among friends is abundant, Randy, I believe, would be proud of this site. To me that's more than enough reason to come back and at least see what's going on at UR everyday.
Ted

Be Patient
I know the topics drift at times and that is to be expected. It is all about discovery. When I bumped into some lost recordings of Randy teaching I was in seventh heaven. Am I fully satisfied with what I know about Randy? Yes & No. I know enough that he is worth talking about. I think it's just cool to find others around the world that see the same things in Randy as I do. Great guitar player? Absolutely. But he was a rare breed. The kind you never see anymore. Look at Rock n' Roll nowadays and you discover we have more attitude than discipline. Randy was like E.F. Hutton. When he spoke everyone listened. He brought soul to Rock n' Roll. That translates into "fun" for you and I.
Every artist wishes to achieve recognition. Randy is going to get that in our lifetime. The problem is that most of us are impatient. If you ever find yourself wishing to know more about Randy do some research. Start collecting photos etc. Put the puzzle together for yourself. You will get a sense of satisfaction out of "discovering" all of the Randy tidbits for yourself. A documentary is someone else's vision of what Randy was like. It can never measure up to your vision of who he was as a player or person for that matter.
The chances that NO footage exists is highly remote. When the documentary does come out it will create it's own buzz about Randy. Sooner or later someone will come forward to release "lost" footage. I am optimistic but I can feel that there is more unreleased material. It just comes out in little spurts. The internet has done a lot to help in this area.
I know we get negative waves from time to time on certain threads but it shouldn't make anyone stop from visiting or posting comments. Usually what happens is that it gets deleted or locked. It's the Devil's playground in the cyberworld so just bear that in mind. How you deal with it is completely of to you. If there is a post I don't like (where angry exchanges are ocurring between two adults) I simply skip it and find one that is more positive. I think they call it the Yin and Yang of discussions. Overall we are surviving pretty well I would say...

What i've noticed over the years i've been active at UR. Lots of members come here but they don't get involved its noticable on alot of the popular threads with 100's of hits but very few writing replies. So i do think alot of people hold back with any views they wish to express or they may feel like they are going to get the newbie 'back off' approach. I was very much the same when i signed up. I would have to feel comfortable with the thread and be a bit knowledgable before posting a reply. But don't be a stranger get yourself here and with every one who joins the TEAM. Thats another RR fan to spread the word HALLALOOOOLYAAHH!!! LOL!
As I have said many time the reason to visit UR the first time is Randy Rhoads but he isn't the reason to stay around, yes he was great and we are here to celebrate his life and work. We know Randy had a short life and left us with few recordings so we have to divert away from the sole subject of Randy to keep the place fresh, so you will see threads about faith and politics cropping up.
I remember my friend Frank who many will know was a close friend of Randy saying that Randy would love UR because it was laid back and had interesting people.
