The DVD also contains over 70 minutes of additional rare live performances and interviews; included is the premiere of more than 30 minutes of newly-discovered never-bootlegged footage of Ozzy and Randy from the Blizzard of Ozz tour shot from the front of the stage at New York's fabled Palladium on May 2, 1981. This new feature is a must-see for aficionados of Ozzy's epic release, Blizzard of Ozz, and its pivotal effect on rock & roll history.

So looking at what it says here we'll not be seeing much in the way of that new Diary footage ?. I know it says 'performances' which is plural and more then one. I just don't like how the Diary footage is not mentioned at all. Unless they plan on extending the times on these discs ?. I hope i'm wrong but they may just be small samples added to the mix of the dvd ...

Im not too hopeful that we will get to see much of the 82 footage on this release. I doubt they'll change what they have put on there. Im not gonna kid myself. But I really, really wanna see the rest of it. Knowing it exists is amazing. I liked Randy's later playing a lot, he was sooooo fast, got crazier with his fills, just doing off the wall stuff here and there, and I love the band jam.

Seeing that trailer tells me theres a good possibilty there's good video of this stuff. I dont expect it on this release but at least it's there. OR, maybe the '82 footage is just small bits, who really knows. I cant wait to find out where it came from. But I'm gonna keep hoping I get to see it.

Im already pumped I get to see Steal Away, but this trailer made me greedy.

I wish the Osbourne's would just focus on restoring any and ALL live footage of the Randy/Ozzy era, and release it as one DVD box set. We don't need interviews and other filler (we already know more about Randy than the people being interviewed probably do).

Just deliver the goods. Even if they charged $500 for all the footage of Randy that exists, the REAL fans would slop up the money, and life would go on.

If one can believe anything that comes out of Sharon's mouth...when she did her first interviews about this release...she said they had two shows on video they were working on for the release. She also made the comment that the video tapes used at the time were only 20 minutes long and the camera man had to replace the tape. So with that said...there is sure to be a lapse in footage during a song, etc. Some of the Diary stuff may be shown in montages for that reason. As far as Diary footage goes...I'd mainly want to see Over The Mountain as it was the only song that they added to the set during the Diary tour.

Listening to the boots...Ozzy's voice was much better on the Blizzard tour, especially near the beginning of the tour (esp. NY Palladium) so this footage should be great despite it's vid source. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I know I'll be forking over my hard-earned $ for the box set. As a die-hard fan of Randy and his playing...it's worth having some new stuff in an official release.

thats the thing. I (or most), DON'T believe things that come out of Sharon's mouth. There's many things she could have meant by that, from anywhere from After Hours, to misspeaking, to straight garbabe bootleg, etc.
If there was a Diary video (and i highly doubt that there is..), i would want to see it for more reasons than just the added "over the mountain" song. Bigger/cooler staging, band more experienced and firing on all and more cylinders, are just a couple.

So if you've been following Randy since 1981 and now have a family and responsibilities that preclude the ability to afford $500 for a set of DVDs you can't be a REAL fan?

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I would have a hard time paying THAT much but I probably would if the content was exactly was you described. We dont need the interviews, we dont need to see Zakk playing along, we just wanna see Rhoads at work. We dont care if Ozzy's voice wasnt that great (we arent watching it because of him), we dont care if there are mistakes, and we dont care about the squabbles between Bob, Lee, and $haron.

Get the stuff together and release it. All of it. I wouldnt be happy about paying a giant price for it, but if the content is there I'd put out a lot.

Most likely, you WILL be seeing all the live footage from that era, assuming you're speaking of anything not seen before (not counting After Hours, garbage bootleg home video stuff, etc). There's very little chance of anything else existing....unless miraculously something is discovered in the future that no one knows about. Even that is a bit far-fetched, unfortunately. But we could always hope.

I disagree. Like I said in the sticky thread, Ive always felt more stuff from the Diary tour existed. Both Randy and Ozzy were making a name for themselves, getting bigger and bigger. A decent amount of stuff exists from 81, why does it seem that LESS exists from '82? It doesnt make sense to me. It's out there. The bigger he got, the more people/venues would be recording audio and video. I've always been certain that more 82 footage existed, and after all these years of saying it it has been proven correct with the new trailer. I'm certain there is even more out there.

THing is guys you need to get real over this. This is not a randy rhoads release. Its a 30th anniversary release of 2 classic albums which happen to contain the brilliant guitar work of randy rhoads. Only true randy fans are buying it for that reason. If it was sold as a randy rhoads box set the chances are we would never see it as ozzys the big name here. This is an ozzy osbourne release period.
I really thing we should give sharon and ozzy some credit over this. Yes they are in it to make money buts thats there job and they do really good job at that. The trailer is clearly aim to show respect to randy and i think we'll see the cream of what is out there of randy.

I still cant believe people are still moaning about this. true fans will be grateful for the smallest of footage, i know i will.

Im definitely not complaining about what we're gettin, I cant wait! I just mean that in order to pay that big money, like 500 as he suggested, it would need to be the right content. We all would love the O's to release anything Randy-related they have. For me to consider paying a TON for it, though, it would HAVE to be comprehensive, and focused. If it had tons of Rhoads and very little fluff, then I WOULD consider paying a ton for it because I want to see it that bad. And I agree that I wish they WOULD do just a Randy release, but of course we would ALL love them to do that.

None of that, however, means Im not terribly excited for the upcoming release, I definitely dont mean to come off as negative. Im glad this stuff is finally being put out, and Im as excited as the rest of you, trust me! Ask my co-workers, who I have been yapping to all day about it! lol

Yup, nailed it once again, Jas...thanks. 8)
It took less than 24 hours from everyone being a kid on Christmas morning to picking things apart.
Cannot wait for this...

Be nice if 'goodbye to romance' was filmed in the '82 show.

Well I have not read a post here since early this morning so if I am saying what has been sadi already I am sorry!

In those video samples where Ozzy is wearing outfits he used in his later days wioth Sabb' isn't it possible that the video they are taken from something recorded in 1980? I am sure we saw Ozzy wearing those late Sabb outfits in 1980 during the UK Blizzard tour?

Don't jump on me for the suggestion I have not checked it out yet!!!!!
Cologne she'll wear silver and americard, She'll drive a beetle car and beat you down at cool Canasta. And when the clothes are strewn don't be afraid of the room touch the fullness of her breast feel the love of her caress she will be your living end.
