I wanted to take my son to see them in July for the farewell tour, but at a feww hundred dollars to see them from half a mile away at an 'amphitheater' I decided it wasn't worth it. I'll live with my fond memories of the Shout at the Devil tour when they were still young and hungry.

The Crue was the first band i got into as a kid growing up and loved them up until around 1992. Then i didn't listen to them at all until about 2007 and they get regular rotation again in what i play. The first couple albums are still great pieces of work. I have not looked up tickets for there farewell tour but i really would like to see them, but not for hundreds of dollars...Can't believe they would actually charge that much but whatever. I'll give a look later today and see what i can get them for around my area.

I don't go to nearly enough shows as i should, I think the last one i went to was in 2003 or 2004 and that was Damageplan. I am making it kind of a goal of mine to start going again and seeing all these bands on tour before they all croak lol.

Agreed about the Crüe charging these exorbitant prices. I've had chances to see them before and never went, and I'm not going to go now, when they're charging 2x what they're worth to see. I like the Crüe a lot, but not $200-300 a lot. Plus, there'll be an inevitable concert DVD of this last hurrah anyways. Plus, they've said they're not going to perform together as the Crüe anymore, which is not to say they're not going to perform separately. The wording is not concrete that they won't tour again on their own, obviously.

I love going to shows, but it's getting harder and harder to afford. I make a pretty good living and even now, I really agonize over whether to attend shows or not. I'm a huge Black Sabbath fan, and I'm even debating whether to go see them in a few months. I don't live in a major centre, and going into the city is an expense, as is the ticket, meals, hotels, etc.

I understand that touring is how most bands make their money these days, but man, the fans are getting charged left, right, and centre. My new favourite thing (and by favourite thing, I mean least favourite) are these "VIP Packages" that a lot of bands are shilling; you get a chance for a meet and greet with the artist, photo op with them, some exclusive merch (which is equally as cheap for them to make as the other stuff...but I digress), maybe a parking space at the venue, and laughably, line-free shopping to buy MORE of their stuff with having to deal with all the other peasants in merch lineups. These packages range from $200/$300 all the way to $750/$1000, depending on the package you choose. Honestly, I don't care what artist it is, I don't see any of them being worth that much. Can I buy a t shirt at the concert? Sure. But why fork over all this extra cash? It just boggles my mind at times.

The last show I considered was Roger Waters performing The Wall- mediocre seats were moving at $700! No effin' way! It would've cost close to $3,000 for my youngest son, father, brother and I to attend in seats about 15 rows back in the center. That was epic craziness, I adore PF as a band as well as solo, they're all exemplary musicians however I refuse to drop that kind of ching for a show.

i saw shows from 79 to 85...i got the point....there were talented bands like van halen,queen and then there were the corporate hustlers -scorpions,ratt,bon jovi,ozzy,motley....but then it was only 10$ to see a band or about 2.5 hours of salary-and even if the band sucked,you got blown away with a light show and smoke bombs....today you pay about 1o hrs min. if your lucky and all the way up to many paychecks...i love all these do-gooder bands that talk peace,love,and blue collar working man crap but then charge 400$ for tickets-hello u2,springsteen(they all live in bev hills mansions btw)...credibility issue?

I see these vip packages for steve vai and g3 and im like,these are zeroes compared to real vips like the beach boys or fthe stones-you know,musicians who wrote real music and songs not shred masturbation.WTF has happened to music?When steve vai can sell vip packages i know why,sort of,justin timberlake is popular.

I saw Brian Setzer and the Tubes recently at a casino and both shows were free because my mother-in-law gets free tickets from the casino in return for all the money she blows there. Setzer was excellent, the Tubes were what I expected - a bunch of old guys still pretending they aren't old guys.

If the shows weren't free I wouldn't have gone... I see no point in paying that kind of money for bands I've already seen in their prime. I just hope my kids never want to go to a show, I couldn't afford to send them!

Same here - they are playing outside at the Woodlands which I refuse to pay to see a show at, let alone at those prices. I think it was about $10 for really good lower-prom seats when I saw them open for Ozzy way back when, I just can't see paying to stand in Houston's heat and humidity for several hours and not even be able to enjoy the show.

paul,i like ozzy,ratt,scorpions but live they were all the same poses etc...van halen and queen were originals that brought a lot more to the live performance....now,what the fuck is up with lip synching?its everywhere...its seems to be the rule not the exception...look at austin city limits and artists den nevermind the grammys,superbowl etc...maybe im hallucinating but the lips never match the sound-am i wrong?cuz its happening with cheryl crow on artist den right now as i type this shit!do bands just record a live tape and then play along to that with their mics off on these shows?

There is no doubt in my mind that at some point in the future lip syncing will be made illegal.. You are paying for a live performance, the word performance can be taken many ways..The band just showing up and dancing around stage is a performance...But i am sure if you asked 100,000 people if a live show should include live vocals, about 99% would agree...

Just need to get the ball rolling on it..

i saw this alt band(Phoeinix) that i like on austin city limits and the lip synching was so obvious-so i checked out online the msg boards and people were denying the lip synching or didnt want to beleive that this band of theirs would actually do this..however it seemed enough of a concern for them to bring it up.

As I said, I recently saw Brian Setzer and I was close enough to see the individual strings on his guitar, I can say without a doubt he was not lip-syncing that show.

The last Austin City Limits I watched featured Stevie Ray Vaughan and was phenomenal!

Back in the day when alot of bands did shows for tv promo etc,it was cheaper for a band to lip sync on a live program than do it all the way live..if you look at lets say ac/dc in the early days on countdown the band were almost always miming to a studio track and bon would belt it out live!!not to say it was always like that..but today its normal for a band or lack of thereof to record a live rehearsal then play it back during a live performance...technically its still a live take of the band,just not at the time of video taping..
