And then flatting them to make them minor or dim and so on. I don't use 7ths too often. But I like looking at the arpeggios because it helps me figure out harmonies. Figuring out tapping did not happen until I learn the arpeggios and I really developed my sweep picking. Which I was not even a fan of until I discovered Jason Becker back in 2009. How lame is that too? IT took me so many years to even hear of this guy.
Totally agree... I didn't grasp arpeggios for a long time. I kept hearing them in sweep picking and I really don't care for that style. Then I got Lead Guitar DNA by DJ Nelson and learned 2 & 3 string arpeggio application and it opened up so much of the fretboard.
Randy would do an F# diminished 7 arpeggio in his spotlight solo that just sounds so cool... just the same 4 notes sequenced in a descending pattern. Here's something similar for anyone interested:

I was just listening to a lesson tape of Randy teaching and he used Brown Sugar by the Stones as his example... funny the stuff you can come across on your own and then find lesson material about.
This thread is Great!! I love hearing how thru that Seminar tape Randys discussing broken chords & now some 30-odd years later were all discussing & More imporntantly STILL LEARNING from Randy & its almost like hes STILL TEACHING!!! I bet that He would LOVE that Idea .Its Also Cool to think Where those little Subtle things came from & how he incorperated them into his playing.I Cant Say How many Damn times Ive Listened to just as an example some 70s Rock & wonder if Randy had heard or Played this song or that song.
Kelle said that they were Pretty into KISS's 1st albums,I mean its hard to think of now but back then when QR started KISS was still Very New & they wernt Super Huge until the end of 75,76.There have been alot of influences Ive heard mentioned from different sources & had to check em out cuz im such a HUGE RR Fan.I remember Kevin saying in some interview or actually I read it in an unauthorised RR Biography that had alot of "New" info & stories I hadnt heard before,& Kevin had told the writer that Randy was always great guitarist, but it wasnt until this one BeBop Deluxe album from 76 or so that Randy went into A New Direction w/alot of different types of scales & Modes to a point that Kevin got very annoyed & Frustrated w/it! lol..I'll have to look in the book & confirm the wording if anyone is interested,I will.
I went in search of Be Bop Deluxe after reading that! The song Kevin mentioned was Ships in the Night... here it is, see if you can here any Randy in it.
It's from the Sunburst Finish record.
Sounds similar to Mott the Hoople to me, and Randy was an Ariel Bender (Luthor Grosvenor) fan.
Thank you Paul....there are just So many things like this that I wonder (Had Randy knew this tune & that tune,& if so what did he like about it ect..Ima gonna go listen to theese songs now.

For the record, I mentioned the lessons because that is where I got my information - I hate posts that say, "I got this from a reliable source," but won't name the source. However, I was given these recordings as a gift and will not be making them public. I hope you all understand.
