Other bands touring with Randy.
Does anyone know all the albums that the other bands who toured with Randy were touring for? I think it would be pretty interesting to see how much of their music Randy could have heard and what he thought of it and what had an influence on his playing or writing.

These are the rest of the bands that supported Ozzy/Randy. Budgie ,Raven, Girl,Queen City kids, Revolver, Starfighters, Foreigner, Magnum, The Santers, Blue Oyster Cult, Loverboy,Pat Travers, Heart,415,Triumph,Frank Marino Mahogany Rush,Vardis and Riot.
I think its been mentioned and its common to remember that Randy loved jamming with other bands one person that comes to mind is Budgie's John Thomas who he befriended throughout the long duration on tour.Randy had been due to fly back to England to stay with his friend J.T. but the events that took place with the plane accident put a stop to that. John Thomas mentions "Two weeks before he died he phoned to say he was coming back over,he was going to spend a week at my place.I had a 1958 Gibson ready for him.Had Randy and J.T.'s fireside sessions resulted on anything more creative than just jamming? "We wrote a song together" J.T affirms."I've still got it.It's very typically Randy in style.I thought about using it for Budgie later on but the only person who could finish it is Ozzy. It's an Ozzy song. The thing is,that what he played in private was a million times better than the Ozzy stuff.I know that sounds ridiculous but it's true- I've seen it.His mastery of the guitar was just unique."

Rudy once said that Randy's big three were Gary Moore, EVH and Michael Schenker at the time when he played with Ozzy.
(if I remember correctly)
Also I remember a question asked to Kelly Garni about why Randy let build the Polka Dot V, and he said that that guitar had probably more to do with Michael Schenker than anything else.

Re: Other bands touring with Randy.
This was one of the bands that never got mentioned while touring with Ozzy in 1981 'The Rods'.

don't remember where I read it, but there was an interview with Randy where heThe Flying Dutchman wrote:Rudy once said that Randy's big three were Gary Moore, EVH and Michael Schenker at the time when he played with Ozzy.

supposedly said that Schenker was Mozart reincarnated

I agree with Randy on that

Re: Other bands touring with Randy.
Def Leppard were on Tour with Ozzy/Randy as A support act. They were supporting Their release "High 'n' Dry" at that time. I honestly think Randy supported, and admired many different guitarists that performed different styles during His lifetime. I think He respected Anyone that picked up the instrument and made it Their own. No matter what type of music They played or Their style of performing. If You read Rudy Sarzo's fantastic book, "Off The Rails", there is some writting that describes Their time touring with Def Leppard. Rudy states that during One soundcheck, Randy was backstage and took notice to some amazing guitar work coming from somewhere. He says that Randy was determined to find out Who was playing, and walked around backstage in an effort to find out where it was coming from. Finally He comes apon A practice room, and discovers Def Leppard Guitarist Phil Collen playing His heart out. He later states to Rudy something along the lines of...That Guy is incredible! He's going to be huge One day!
BTW....yes, The Rods were also in support.
