I'd heard this as well. I also heard that he sold the Ormsby bass with Randy's fingernail... The way I see it is this, Kelly is currently enjoying a second round of playing bass onstage. He may have finally decided to move away from the legacy of being in Randy's shadow. If a fan offered crazy amounts of money for that stuff, Kelly may have simply said, "Enough is enough, it's time to move on." I have no problem with him selling what was his.
As for not coming around here anymore, a number of us have taken long breaks from UR due to the insanity that often reigns here. I hope Kelly's doing well with whatever he is doing now.
you know your right on the money,cause that's how he put it,along those lines,got his own thing going and finding his way,
giving up drinking ,getteng close to god,i wish him all the best,kelly has always been straight up with me,and i know he is close to family,no matter what -issues may arise,i have respect for that.

Geo you more then likely don't know what KG did in the past. He needed to pay his bills or some debt. So he decided to sell his bits and pieces of RR memorabilia. I think they may of been listed on ebay. The fans over at TK rallied round and tried to stop him from having to sell these items. It was decided that KG would photograph his collection and put it on a dvd. It had photos and some rare audio of QR and Randy. Then he would sell the dvd for $45.00 each and he'd be able to pay his bills etc. Then a few years later he goes and sells his collection to some fan in Japan. But he kept that card close to his chest.. That got leaked out and was only a rumour which has now developed into the truth.
Like you say he can do what the hell he likes, its his stuff to sell or trade or whatever. It was the shitty stunt of getting the fans to stop him from having to sell it in the first place. But that is in the past KG has found God and is a better person... Yeah i'm glad i wasn't one of those fans who helped him out. He is doing a similar thing now to help fund his publishing of his book.

That does suck that he would take advantage of the fans. I wouldn't part with my stuff if that had been me that was friends with Randy but then again didn't he shoot at Randy once?

actually paul, this statement is accurate. i'll stand behind it.
I REALLY don't want to speculate as to family relationships in regards to Kelly as I am only editing his book. I will say that at the 30th Anniversary celebration Doug/Kelle DID say that there were TWO books to get, one was Bob's and the other Kelly's.
oh, i'm not looking for an argument here. i have no doubt that kelly garni and kelle rhoads are on good terms these days. what i am saying is that the shooting severely impacted randy and kellys friendship.
i have no reason to make this up. look up the youtube audio of my lesson. at one point you will hear a knock on the door. it's only a neighbor but when randy comes back, he confides that he is really shook up over an incident that just took place. he's looking over his shoulder at every little noise and his fear is genuine.
randy goes on to tell me about the shooting incident but when he sees the tape is running, he shuts it off. their friendship, however, was never the same.
I also don't wish to start an argument but In Kelly's defense, while the incident may have strained things for a while there are stories in the book that he tells of his relationship with Randy even during the Ozzy years.
I'll give you an A for effort..did you kick GUITARIDOL5682 as well?
