I think it was a 1974 although Randy believed it was much older

It was John Thomas out of Budgie that told Randy that his Gibson Les Paul was alot younger then he thought.I'm sure he thought he had a 1969 model,John Thomas was a big fan of Gibson guitars and he had a large collection of them.I'm sure i read about this in an interview or it may be mentioned in the Garry Sharpe Young book Rockdetector The story of the Ozzy Osbourne band...

Actually, he thought it was a '63 or '64, but it was actually a '74!

I say find the years that Gibson put gold knobs on a Les Paul with a black pickgaurd and you'll narrow it down. Usually gold knobs go with the cream pickgaurds and black knobs go with the black pickgaurd.
