Re: Jake E. Lee w/ Randy's Guitar?
A pic from this photo shoot(maybe this one), was part of a post card sheet that was included in the Japanese Prince of Darkness EP. It has been asked before and I believe the answer was that it was not Randy's but was one of the first Jackson production runs. I think it may have been a gift from the O's to Jake.

Re: Jake E. Lee w/ Randy's Guitar?
Grover Jackson has said he had another guitar he was making Randy. It was the white one "accidentally sold" at NAMM in '84. When did the first RR production start hitting the market? I'd have a hard time believing that this is Randy's because of the alterations but could of because of the date. It's weird that Vinnie Vincent had a RR in '82 or '83. I thought Grover wasn't making them until after NAMM '84? When did the Japanese album come out? 1985? 1984? That could be another clue...

Randys had three black knobs..this has two gold.. Randys had a solid brass tune o matic.. This one has black and gold... Randys had small shatkfin inlays.....I believe this is a rr1 from 83.

There was also a picture of Jake holding this guitar (or one like it) in the very first Guitar World (I believe) interview I saw with Jake. It wasn't really a long interview, maybe a page long profile of Ozzy's new guitar player, and the picture was in black and white. Not even sure BATM had been released but I remember it said in that interview that Jake "had access" to the Randy Rhoads model Jackson, although I don't think he ever really used one.

Re: Jake E. Lee w/ Randy's Guitar?
At the time of Randy's passing, Grover Jackson was working on two guitars for Randy. They were both based on the Black (Concord) that Randy recieved shortly before his death. The two guitars being built included refinements based on Randy's feedback. One of these guitars was to have the tune-o-matic bridge and the same string-thru-body design as the original. The second was to incorporate a Floyd Rose tremolo. Randy had major tuning issues with the Polka Dot V. (Randy mentions this in his guitar seminar in PA). He also made comment that the Charvel tremolo on the white Concord was pretty good but wasn't a perfect tailpiece.
Guitar World found the owner of Randy's lost Jackson (that Grover mistakenly sold at NAMM) and published an article about the owner and the piece with photos of the guitar a few years ago. There have also been photos circulated of the last unfinished guitar. I don't remember the details of that story. I'll try to dig it up.
To my knowledge, all of Randy's gear is in the posession of the Rhoads family. The instruments and cases are reportedly in the same state today that they were the day Randy died. The Jackson Rhoads went into 'production' in '84. That does not mean that Jackson didn't build a few of these beforehand for select individuals.

Re: Jake E. Lee w/ Randy's Guitar?
Hey maybe some of you guys can help, I think i may own the Randy Rhoads guitar pictured with Jake E Lee in 83 but i cant be 100% sure its the one, its a cool story but basically I have a very early rhoades RR1 very low 2 digit serial number made in 83, this guitar was sent by grover jackson to sharon osbourne (then Arden) in 83 .... in 86 at wormwood scrubs prison Ozzy handed the guitar to one of the inmates, i believe he was the guitarist of the lags band that jammed jailhouse rock with Ozzys band at the end of the legendary gig. Jake had left Ozzy by then in fact the wormwood scrubs gig was Zaks first gig ... I dont know what happened to the guitar between sharon recieving it and ozzy giving it away ... as the pic with Jake holding an RR1 in 83 I have assumed that sharon may have leant this to Jake when he joined Ozzy, of course it could be a totally different guitar given to Jake anyway if anyone has ever seen ozzy with an RR1 in any pic or can help me out that would be superb .. cheers Steve

is there any photos of the Jacksons that were being made for Randy at the time of his death. The white one sold at NAMM, the Floyd Rose one and a black one like the white one.

Re: Jake E. Lee w/ Randy's Guitar?
All 3 really, i have played guitar for 30 years and i have a few including a couple from well known bands, always been a fan of ozzy, I was offered this guitar a few years ago but missed out on it, recently it resurfaced and i bought it, i know the story is true and have a letter from jackson confirming this is the guitar they sent to sharon and ozzy shortly after Randys death, the gig at the scrubs and ozzy giving the guitar to the lag are well documented, the case has lots of provinence all over it and i have some letters written to the prisoner by ozzy which are great and show what a cool guy he is, just keeping in touch with the guy and talking to him about the new album in 86, I wrote to Jake to ask him the question but never got a response, i love the guitar as much for the history of it as anything else, whether its the guitar jake is posing with i dont know, there is no record of him playing an RR1 anywhere, he is well known as a charvel man, it would be good to know, cheers Steve
