Having a cluttered garbage can in a bedroom can tell you what a person is really like sometimes. I don't have one in my room, but if Randy did, then I might consider it.

If you want a garbage can in your room, go for it. It can be quite useful. Don't get one JUST because your hero had one. It seems a little silly to me.

Well if you have not seen 'Lemmy' the movie. It is worth watching for the garbage can scene. Lemmy's flat is a cross between the Imperial War museum and a horders paradise with 50 years of collected knick nacks, items from fans etc. He bollocks the camera man for getting the garbage can / waste paper bin in shot. To be honest the flat has that much clutter the bin is lost amongst the other trash lying around. So if Lemmy can have a trash can, so can Randy and the world is a better place...
I know a very good guitarbuilder here and he has a big writing on the wall in that little chaotic garage were he makes all those awesome guitars: "A clean desk is the sign of a sick man..."

The OP's post very well could have been a "tongue in cheek" jab at some of the crazy stuff that gets posted in this forum, that's why I stated something to that effect in my original post. Maybe you missed that part?
Combing your hair like someone is not what I would consider too "out there", people emulate other people's "look" every day. Ever seen a woman bring a magazine into a beauty parlor and ask for "that hairstyle"? I can even see wearing the same type clothing, etc.. But putting a trash can in your room just because someone else did?? You either NEED a trash can, or you don't.. Get my point? LOL!
Obviously, this person can do whatever they want to do and you can think whatever you want. I ain't gonna lose any sleep over it either way.

As for getting your point, clearly, you missed mine; how is the garbage can analogy any different? Whether you "need it" or not is inconsequential...this guy asked about something his hero did and how he did it.
