It's a good blend of both his personal and professional lives...
Good point Tom. Over the years I've read many of the articles used in this book and I'm familiar with the "plot" but Randy's close friends' comments opened up his personal life and gave this book a new angle. I enjoyed them the most. This must be the most comprehensive book yet written about Randy.
I was checking ebay.co.uk for this book and i found it listed at a very good price including free delivery. I've got mine ordered, i'll be sure to let you know what i think of the book ok. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Crazy-Train-H ... 2a11cd06e0
Just ordered the book at amazon. Should be here within 2/4 weeks.
(and also a new Randy/Ozzy Tribute T-shirt I 'accidentally' saw there, same as the cover of the book! )
Just received the book from MusicDispatch.com. It was shipped quickly. Glad it has colored photos and not all black and white! Wish there were plenty more, but I know how expensive it can be to pay photographers for the rights. Just started reading it. Only in a couple of pages so far because I was busy watching Wimbledon.
Joel i get the feeling that you must of found this website in your research for the book. How did you find out about Frank Santa Cruz ?.
How long does it take from the rough ideas to the complete novel. I'm no critic but i have noticed a couple of errors in the time line 1980 / 81. The story flows well and its good to have people like Frank onboard. Did you try to get in touch with Peter Margolis as i know Dave Tangye would like to contact the guy.
Tharg wrote:Yes, I met Frank here, he was very generous with his time.
I also interviewed Dave T and Peter Margolis, tell Dave to contact Peter through Facebook.
Yeah Frank and Dave have been very supportive of the RR fans. I have just realised i have getting my Peter's mixed up, it is Pete Mertons that Dave is trying to get in touch with.
