Our band also met Ted Nugent once and Ted talked about when he met Jimi Hendrix. Jimi walked towards Ted with his arm out (to shake his hand) and ran into him. That's how messed up Hendrix was. No depth perception from all the drugs. Ted demonstrated this introduction to...ME!
Go ahead and google image "Ted Nugent Holding Mercury" and you'll see us with him.

He said about Yngwie - we had to constantly tell him that it's not his turn to solo all the time during the jam encore tunes. I guess Yngwie was cool and stuff, but his natural instinct is to dominate the stage.

In all honesty, we were kind of stunned that we got to hang out with Joe alone for like 30 minutes after the gig. Joe's main concern was "what did you guys think of the show?" Chickenfoot was brand new and the album hadn't even been released yet. In all honesty, I think it was their 2nd gig ever! Joe talked about Jeff Beck and I remember him saying that he loves how Beck just "digs" notes out of nowhere and holds them out. Joe even talked about living in San Francisco. We actually walked with Satriani to the van where he was leaving in, and he was flying to somewhere that night, I can't remember where. But he also said he was doing an interview with Guitar World the next week. I really think that particular show was not part of a tour, but rather just a one-off gig.

My band played with Black Stone Cherry recently and they were telling me that Yngwie was the roughest person that have come across on the road. Said he was a real handful and that he always refers to himself in third person. lol then the dude goes "YNGWIE IS HUNGRY" lol it was funny.AndrewT1976 wrote:He said about Yngwie - we had to constantly tell him that it's not his turn to solo all the time during the jam encore tunes. Ha! That's awesome man! Good work on the gigs with Black Stone Cherry too!
Yeah - Yngwie, gotta love the guy.
I saw Yngwie at the House of Blues in Chicago back in 2009, and we were in the opera box that was kind of equal to the stacks of his Marshalls (we were basically on the side of the stage) and we could see him going behind his amps during certain portions of the tunes, and he flipped his head down, and pulled out a blow dryer to "poof up" his hair. Dead serious man. Couldn't believe it.
We made our way to the center balcony for Far Beyond the Sun. Amazing performance.
