Is this the Spotlight solo??

Post by DMRX »

Okay....after the 50th time of watching the Trailer It Clicked in my head
Frank over at RRTK said that the "Long Version" of the Trailer started w/Ozzys reaction to watching the "Footage" for the 1st time.

So my Idea is this....at the Very beginning of the trailer where you hears Randys Guitar solo,,I think that may very well be them watching the Footage???
The Producers eyes are moving & they look like theyre looking at the screen in the Bottom of the shot. This would mean there IS a SPOTLIGHT solo!!
I know they are later listening to the Choir on Diary in the same spot, but the Monitor could easily double as a Video screen??

Your Thoughts??

That certainly sounds like the spot light solo. I got the sheet music out and was playing along with what Ozzy and Producer was wacthing..and it certainly fits. It sounds like the seventh measure of the solo with the acsending minor pentatonic sequence. You might be correct that they were watching the spotlight solo....*hope so*

I think it's the Over The Moutain guitar solo. Ozzy's crew has overdubbed the Mr Crowley (NY Paladium) and Suicide (after hours) video with the Southampton live tracks -- so it wouldn't surprise me if they have done it with Over the Mountain too, matching the sound exactly to Randy's fingering/riffing - which would mean that the original sound must exist.

I must admit this DVD/box set has gotten me really excited and I visit these boards EVERYDAY. I don't say a lot - as I think speculating is dangerous for all of us, as I'm sure we don't want anything to be an anti-climax. But having a small snippet of Randy in all his glory is what we're all here for. Let's enjoy the moment!

I did want to also say that Sharron O is a great person... met her twice and both times (backstage at an ozzy gig in London and Milton Keynes) she's was great to me and my other half. So please - although she's had years of Randy fans bashing her - let's give her and Ozzy the respect they deserve, She is, afterall, a business woman and I'm sure she's had a lot to contend with over the years. They didn't need to put ANY live Randy stuff out there -- just a remix of the albums could have done for the 30th. I also feel that these two films of randy have NOT been in the Osbournes "vaults" for years. They are too low quality for commercial release.

But isn't great that we are finding more and more footage of Randy?! A full concert would be ace, but what I'd love to hear is something that Randy was working on for the next album. That would be the icing on the top of the cake.

Thanks UR... this forum is the BEST!

I don't think they are watching a monitor or a screen. They are playing the original recordings of Blizzard. That could possibley be the RR guitar solo that is a new track on these new editions. Or it could just be Randy playing with all the other tracks levelled out. Like the choir part of Diary of a Madman when Ozzy is conducting the 'orchestra'. Plus you can see the reel to reel tape going round behind the original box the tapes came out of. What makes you think they are watching a screen ?. Thats one of the guys who has remastered the original tapes. Frank said Ozzy was sitting in his 'den' watching the Live footage. At the beginning of the longer trailer.

I know what you mean but it's not. It's the spotlight solo. The first time I heard the beginning of the tailer, I tought it sounded very familar. So, I check the score and played along with the begining of the trailer and it matches perfectly. Ascending minor pentatonic sequence. Over the Mountain solo begins with a kind of blues scale...

Good point! They could very well be listening the SouthHampton spotlight solo from the EP???

I was going under the assumption the two were listening to "RR Solo" which is coming as an extra on the Blizzard disc, as they show the closeup of the Ridge Farm box immediately after Kevin and Ozzy at the console.
Ozzy looks like he's looking straight ahead while listening, while Kevin looks to be keeping an eye on sound levels?
On the upside, we will all know in two months time!
Whenever I put on Blizzard or Diary, what a wonderful, delicate furious beast.... I MISS you, man!

Yeah precisely..... Fuck i thought i went off on a tangent. Why make something bigger then it isn't. We've seen 4 seconds of a trailer showing a clip of new Diary footage and it's turned into a full concert ?. Wishful thinking.

agreed.. People who have never really been in a studio dont' understand. even when just listening you tend to watch the screen and follow the track

Yeah its alot different watching a pulsing line of dancing dots on a studio monitor. Then with no evidence what so ever it turns into a spotlight solo of Live RR footage. Shit are you guys on acid, Do you get what i'm saying, some people just blow it out of proportion.

Right Guys.....The Trailer HAS ALOT of "Creative Editing" in it so the Ridgefarm Box (which reads Blizzard Side 1) would be the 1/2" stereo master & thats what the tape machine has on the Reel is 1/2 inch tape. The Suicide Souloution Sounds like Montreal because the Bass sounds like Slapp/Popping but Mr.C Does sound like the SouthHampton. And The Over the Mountain Sounds GREAT!!! Its Gotta be the NEW REMaster by George Marino!
They could be lookin at the Computer (protools) Monitor, but they could also be watchin a Video on it too!
My Whole Thought came from FRANK @ RRTK Said at the Memorial they saw the "Long Version" & it started w/Ozzy watching the Video for the 1st time

I agree with Whoopiecat. Unfortunately, I believe they are probably looking at the UV meters on the board. I say it's from the new solo.
