Million-Billion dollar idea for free! Blizzard Diary

Post by hansolo »

Maybe someday a computer program cd rom (or other format) + Blizzard and Diary master tracks can be used to study the recording process and/or make your own mixdowns. The program would be a virtual mixer. Could you imagine the fun? This might breathe new life in the recording industry. They could do it with anyone. The Beatles, Beach boys, Dylan, Metallica, Grateful dead, Led Zeppelin, Classical, hip hop, etc. Gotta buy the format for the program to work! :fish: :P :) :D    :fish: :|

Like having all the individual tracks from all the songs on all the Guitar Hero releases? I do my own mixes of those songs (Crowley and Crazy Train among them) all the time.

Exactly, but you don't have all the songs or a way to mix 'em. Those are cool, I do have them ripped on a cd. But remember randy triple tracked solos and layered rhythms so when you look at the tabbed out guitar solo, it's really telling one story...

Dream theater did it with there last album you had a dvd with all the individual tracks on there and you could listen to the tracks how you wanted, if you wanted drums and bass only or guitar and vocals or any combination. It was great for guitarsist who could make his own backing tracks using dream theater as your backing band.

You don't have all of Randy's songs, no. Ozzy would never release them all, it's not cost effective.

I do have a way to mix them, either with Pro Tools or Adobe Audition... I prefer Crazy Train with Randy panned to the right and Bob panned to the left. I pan Ozzy just off center to the left and leave Lee in the middle. Sounds great on headphones!

As far as Randy's triple tracked parts being tabbed, it is one part being played three times exactly the same - that's what was so amazing about Randy, he could duplicate himself exactly... I can come pretty close to duplicating that with the Guitar Hero tracks by adding Randy's part 3 times and panning them slightly to each side with a nanosecond of delay, leaving one track dead on in the middle. It's fun to play around like that.

It's also fun to isolate each guitar of a 2 guitar song and even eliminate on of the guitars... with Wild Cherry's Play that Funky Music I seperated the guitars, one right, one left and it made a world of difference.

Yeah, I've done of that with Adobe Audition and I've heard it can be done with Audacity... here's a good article on removing vocals with Audacity.

yep i did it in audacity it cuts out what is equally left as it is right. you split the stereo track to a right and left one. then you make them both mono and invert one of them. it makes the bells on revelation stand out soooo much and on steal away the night it takes out the solo but leaves the guitar behind it kinda like a backing track!
