@Whoopiecat: Wasn't sure what the latest/most offical word was...clearly there was originally talk of a Southhampton show, and also Diary of a Madman was supposed to have some bonus tracks....went on facebook, saw a post from "Ozzy" announcing this and certain things looked different. Wasn't going to go through the last 7 pages to see if this was in fact the latest word...that's the last time I try to help! ;-)
Life's a stage and we're all in the cast.

It is obvious at some point, Southampton was indeed planned. Why it got yanked is a disappointing mystery.
Not to quibble or complain, but there is already an official release with the Sarzo/ Aldridge lineup on Tribute.
Speaking of which, not 'til someone pointed out earlier did I realize next year is the 25th for the Tribute album.
It does make you wonder...
Or it could be that for the usa release they are planning the live show as the us live show and the uk version might get southampton.
Theres a reason why they would print them for the photoshoot.

Thats why im holding back and not ordering it from the usa at the moment as i think the uk version my be a little different. we'll have to wait and see.

Well that last photo we saw of the box set was the British release so if the first shots showed the USA release, it is the USA set that will include 'Southampton'.

Yeh Im convinced that they will be releasing the extra material that was up in some form or other down the line, which is good news. After sleeping on the release of this boxset and all, I must say I think we are being seriously milked for this boxset. Its way way overpriced and I dont know if anyone agrees but who is gonna pay £125 ($204) for this box set. I mean it takes some thought, its not like a normal purchase. It seems to me its not aimed at the casual music fan, more aimed at serious fans. Im definitely going to buy it dont get me wrong but feel sad because it would be great to introduce randy to new fans and sharon is just milking his name, havent they got enough money already.

The price of the box set pretty much guarantees that the good parts will be ripped to the internet very quickly. There are tons of people who want the footage and the extra tracks, but dont want all the other stuff.

Its a shame really. I will pay for it, but many wont.

This could have easily been like a Kissology release. Those discs had tons of full live shows packed on to one disc and were under $30.

I am open minded in hopes that it will be even better than I expect. As I have said before, it is so difficult for me to get excited for anything Randy related, especially when all we have had to go on was rumors and hopes all these years.

I can't beleive that people are moaning about the footage. YOU REALLY think that an official release will contain a D grade video quality??

Can someone point me to an official release of any bands that did contain paladium youtube quality video??

There really should be a seperate release of the DVD for the fans that dont want the box set... I'm hopefull that this is just the start of finally releasing more live Randy material in general.
I will say that if I saw a 30 minute pro shot dvd of an Ozzy Randy show for sale by a private seller I would of forked over more than $150 for it easily. So with this box set release we are also going to be seeing other footage besides the 30 minute Palladium show. Apparently some from the Diary tour also...
Its a tough call. Definately would have pre-ordered the box if Southhampton was the live show, and the extra long solos were included. (especially if Bobs holy grail tapes were included)!

So I think the Osbourne camp is definately taking steps in the right direction lately to make the fans happy again.
Ozzy has been playing some cool songs from The Ultimate Sin in his live set also, fans can buy The Ultimate Sin album again if they want. I wonder if the "typos" on The Ozzman Cometh credits have been corrected..

So nothing left to do now, but wait two months, and hope that the DVD can be purchased seperately, and hope for a full release of the Palladium show (if there was more than 30 minutes filmed). And hope that someday all the Footage of Ozzy and Randy can be released on DVD. Of course there is more out there in private hands that could be purchased, my favorite rumor is that some of the road crew fimed the Manchester 1980 show :P

It's unfortunate that Ozzy hast to release the same songs again and charge so much for them. The mix isn't going to be so drastically different from what has been on CD before. The extra tracks could be added to yet another re-release of Blizzard and Diary and the documentary/footage could be, as you say, a Kissology type release. Forcing fans to buy what they don't want is a sign of poor marketing - or Ozzy's stuff is no longer selling well...

Why not have the box for those who want the book and cross and individual releases for those who don't? And what's up with vinyl releases? So the vinyl can be rip to digital? Makes no sense (yeah I know all the arguments about how vinyl sounds better, but it doesn't).

It would have been cool to see each album separated into its OWN package.

Release Blizzard as a box - vinyl, updated cd w/extras, bonus live cd, book with pics

Release Diary as a box - vinyl, updated cd w/extras, bonus live cd, book with pics

The Blizz doc could be done separately

No crosses or posters of OZZY only

Ozzy has a section right on his website where you can post comments about the box set news. I would think that those would be seen by him or someone in the Ozzy camp.
http://www.ozzy.com/us/news/definitive- ... tored-rema

Comments can also be posted at Guitar World. Maybe those comments would be seen by editors. They're sure to have a feature on the box soon.

I'm still surprised that the Live EP isn't going to be included. At one point, the Mr. Crowley Live picture disc was the best selling picture disc of all time. I still have the ICE magazine from 1994 announcing Epic/Legacy's plans to release a picture CD of the 3 tracks. Obviously, that never happened. That would've been a cool inclusion in the box.

All the speculation here is entertaining. I'm sure the Osbourne's and anyone associated with them are getting a kick out of it if they're looking over here!

Like I tell others...if you're wondering about something that isn't confirmed you have two choices - ask a trusted source to clarify the information (if they will do that) or wait until the information can be clarified or will be confirmed. I know someone who works over at Sony and tried the first - he (smartly) isn't biting, because it probably means his job if he leaks anything. So, I will wait until May 31st (or beyond...if the date slips again) and get confirmation probably by viewing the product in-store without buying it and then checking in here for you guys who get it the second it's available to inform me of exactly what's in each product and how good it is. Then I will make my decision to buy it or not.

I've already got the '95 remasters of the original recordings of Blizzard and Diary that I treat like museum pieces and they suffice just fine (even at 22-bit), so yes - I am interested in bonus material and extras...repackaging and new graphics / photos aren't going to impress me that much. Any new photos will be on the internet within a day anyhow. If Blizzard comes with the extras advertised then I may go for it, still knowing the alternate mixes of No Bone Movies and Steal Away aren't included. Diary is a different story - if there are no extras or anything new I don't need it...and if the live CD is Montreal, I've got that too (cleaned up and repackaged nicely, just like I did with the original Cleveland show).

The DVD? At this point, I could wait until the 30th anniversary of Randy's passing to see if anything new comes out or gets repackaged. I'm sure pieces of it will be all over the internet, also. I will want to see it, but won't (and can't with 2 little kids and their Mom at home being supported by my income alone) pay $150 just for that...and a few Blizzard bonus tracks that will probably be ripped to YouTube within hours of their release.

Eventually I will have the important pieces of Randy's legacy on first quality sources, but I will not pay through the nose for them - especially for merch that I don't need or want.

Don't get me wrong - I'm happy this his happening...I'm happy ANYTIME RR gets attention and the spotlight again. And I'm happy that a lot of you are happy - we are brothers located on different corners of this planet bonded together by our love for one man's amazing guitar playing and songwriting talent. But I also don't buy anything I don't want or need.

I NEED Southampton...a complete show (I've searched high and low for it and haven't been successful). And yes, probably the DVD footage at some point. But at a reasonable cost without crosses and posters, etc (yeah, I'd keep the book). They will just get thrown in the trash. Let me underscore all of this with...this is just my opinion and my perspective. I hold no one in judgement who's going to pre-order the box set or both new remasters...you spend your money the way YOU want to.

This is the link to the listed box set with the changes £119.99 = $ 196.60 ?
US Version $149.99 = £91.50 ? so one works out cheaper then the other.

Ha ha! The speculating is fun! I am waiting on a guitar to be built and the maker said he would start e mailing pictures step by step soon! Like the rr stuff and info and speculating I will love the drip feed pictures and speculating what this guitar will sound like :)

I don't actually think £120 is actually that bad. It is a bit on the pricey side, but not a bad price for a special release. I hate pirating anyway and if someone does me a copy cd or dvd I always go and get the real one and chuck the copy. That is just the way I roll as they say LOL - so yes I have started saving for it!

I don't really ever comment on this much but, last night I posted the audio of Randy's tribute solo on my facebook page, for some odd reason it just felt right given the time of year. And after listening to it, which I haven't done in many years, I can truly say I hope all the concerned parties have got everything straight and we finally do get to see a full concert dvd of Randy, that would be a very special thing to have, because as that solo I posted last nght attest, Randy was a very special guitar player, and an even more special person. Not that I'm telling anyone here something you don't already know, I just wanted to say it, and yes, I will pay whatever price they ask for it.

Do any of you in other countries get overcharged on tax too? It's $141 Canadian, with $29 tax, which works out to 20%. But HST here is only 13% (so it should only be $18). :? I'm assuming they've worked in a "handling fee" into that amount as well then?
