God,thats like asking which is your favorite kid ! Its Soooooooooo Hard for me to decide.
Where do you Start?????Solo??Overall song structure, hooks, melodys,Harmonys, I love Randys Music So So Many different ways since I was 6. My 1st memory is So Clear in my mind.My brother playing me Crazy Train & the Intro was So Cool to a 6 year old,All Aboard.......Hahahahahaha!!!!!
n the Part when he says "I listen to preachers....I thoght he said I listen to Retards...lol
& I was Like "Awww He said a Bad word" ..lol
But the 1st Chance I got when my Bro left I snuck his Record & played the Hell Out of it!!!
I was So young that my Vocabulary was only so developed & I distinctly remember certin songs & Lyrics that had Words I Understood..like Over the Mountain,I knew what mountains were & the Sky..lol The Dont need a ticket part I understood & it always reminded me of Hewy Lewis "Dont need a credit card to ride this train" from Power of love which was huge when I was 6:) I Loved Goodbye to Romance SO MUCH that I named my Dog Goodbye to Romance,or Romance:) Both Albums were/are intigrated in my DNA Ive heard listen to them countless times. In YCKRNR I didnt know about Overdubbing & during the 2nd Verse I thought that it was Randy singing w/Ozzy!!:)
of the 20 RR/Ozzy Tracks BOO & Diary + U said it all,You Lookin at me + the Band Jam (or Trapeeze as Ive heard it called??) It would be Hard to pick a Favorite from like 15 of em that are All SOLID in their own right,& the other 5 are all great too!!
Blizzard-
I Dont Know--LOVE LOVE LOVE the Bridge
Crazy Train-True Classic, what else can I say one of the best Riffs of all time
Goodbye-Beautiful Acoustic Textures & THE BEST SOLO OF ALL TIME IMHO
Dee-Beautiful & Really Ties the continuity of the record togethr Perfectly
Suicide-Another Riff for the Ages & Ozzys Melodys are Sweet
Mr.Crowley-anothe RR Solo in his Top 5 & the Bridge harmonys & Ozzys Melody are Pure GOLD
No Bone-Intended as a B-Side,the only track w/Lee's credit & the Almost Rockabilly Groove,And the Most Fun Party Vibe Gang Vocals (about Porn) during Outro
Revelation-Mabey this is my Favorite,Love the Textures of guitars, the Moodiness, the Tympani Drums & Tubular Bells & the Best Piano solo I could imagine for the song (I herd Randy wrote that too) And the Powerhouse Pre-Neo-Classical Solo to the Rising Intensity of the whole Record Right into BAM!!!!!!!
Steal Away-Perfect place to go from the Orgasm of Sound at the end of Revelation, one of the most Catchy Vocal melodys on the record & chorus too,Another Stellar Pre-Neo-Classical solo
And one of the most Clever Basslines in a Rock Song
Diary
Over the mountain-Best Singlebass Drum into, its easy w/two bass drums but lee only used one & that is a Monster on Drums!! No wonder he got the Moneker of "BEAR"
Chugging Heavy Rythm guitars Pulsing Bass Vocal hooks & one of the Craziest Solos on Record at the time w/Divebombs & tapping & PRECISE Picking Ten Stars!!!
Flying High-This Too could be My Favorit but in top 5 for sure!! SLEAZY Riff Pulsing Drum & Bass Groove Possibly another "Best Solo" & the bassline under it is equaly as impressive!
You Cant Kill..-Another Beautiful Balad w/the Power Chorus a Great Precursor to the Power Balad,Brilliant Acoustic Textures & fills & Randys Most Experimental Solo w/Noises & Feedback!!!! Stellar
Believer-More Great Guitar Noise,Beautiful Bridge & Anothe Top 5 Solo!!!
Little Dolls-Sadly Overlooked Song,Lees Vocal Melody Contributions really Shine here!
different from Ozzys but a Great Riff,Groove & Tone...but the Vocal melodies & songwriting are So So So going somewhere had they stayed the same band.
Sato-Another One of the most Upbeat Rockin Tunes they did Awsome Drum beat & the Riffs
are TRUE HEAVYNESS!!! & the Tone is just as Great, during the Break before the Godly Solo
Diary-The textures Chords Offtime Rhytm, melodies ,lyrics ,Solo,POWERFULL & Chilling

YLAMLAY-IMHO the most QR sounding of the Ozzy RR tunes.Catchy good Hooks & Solo & bassline,....but just Not up to Par w/the rest of the Album
You said it all-Grat for a one off tune written in a few hours, but again QR sounding & just a notch down from the rest.
Band Jam-This hasnt been officialy released but have heard on numerous boots & it was Really evolving,Tommy Double bass in sync w/the Guira & Bass ,& the Keyboard playing those arpeggios in unision w/Randy was So So ahead of the time!!! Sure Deep Purple & Rainbow did that, but Randy was doing theese Neo-Classical Scales ,that sound like they were from an Yngwie or Satriani SHREAD Player that was big a few years later.

QR RR is Another thing all together,as for QRI & QRII there are a few on each that are really rockin,& the RR years CD was Great what Kev did w/those tapes!! Surprised he didnt put Slick Black on it????? But on QRRRY II Really like Force of Habit (which was the only one that wasnt done up w/Studio Tricks & the Oldest,Randy actually played a Marshal on that one
But same goes for thhe Magic Wand EP,the Early stuff! Thats my Favorite of all the QR stuff, before their Managment steered them into Bay City Rollers Bubble Gum Land.....What were they thinking, and for that IMHO the Songwriting Suffered.......Back to the Coast is One of my Fav RR Songs Period (the EP version) QRI's is ok but Weak production

Boy I really Got Carried AWAY...But I LOVE RR so much that I cant Choose!
if I have to pick 5 in No Order Goodbye,Flying High,Over the mountain,Crowley & Revelation
And that is Hard because I want to add Diary,I dont Know,Believer,of course Crazy Train.....welll the rest of the albums!!!

you know i forgot to put dee from the studio outtakes..randy sounded a bit frustrated and apprehensive putting it together?but he comes across so damn focused on what he was trying to do on those takes...maybe im reading too much into it but that has to be one of the best recordings ive ever heard i guess because it was for his mom and you just get the whole vibe from it...from the time max tells him you have to get away him smokin his cigarette the jet goin over the studio he just comes across so focused but aware of everything around him?idk just thinking out loud....sorry guys!!a true musician he was!!!

I like different songs for different reasons...
Mr. Crowley, SATO, Suicide Solution, and Believer are probably my all around favorites.

Diary of a madman, because it's a great fusion of hardrock and classical influences!

Has to be You Can't Kill Rock and Roll for me but as everyone else has suggested, it changes almost daily.

Wow. Only 1 person mentioned Mr. Crowley so far! I'd say my top 5 tunes from Randy (with Ozzy's band) are:

5. Over the Mountain
4. Tonight
3. I Don't Know
2. Goodbye to Romance

......

1. Mr. Crowley!!!
