"My Son Randy": My 1982 Delores Rhoads Interview
This is my first day here, and already I like what I see! By way of introduction, I was an editor for Guitar Player Magazine, 1978-1997, and a few months after Randy's accident, I interviewed his immediate family, as well as Ozzy Osbourne, Rudy Sarzo, luthier Grover Jackson, and Max Norman, who engineered and produced Randy's albums with Ozzy. Only bits and pieces of these conversations were used in my November 1982 "Randy Rhoads Remembered" cover story for Guitar Player. In honor of Randy's life and accomplishments, I've decided to transcribe the complete interviews and run them on my Jas Obrecht Music Blog this month.
I thought it best to start at the beginning, so first up is a heartfelt interview with Randy's mom, Delores Rhoads, done just a few months after his death. Delores gives a lot of insight into Randy's childhood, love of guitar, approach to teaching, and his beloved white Gibson Les Paul, which she's seen holding in a great photo by Neil Zlozower. I invite you to check it out and stayed tuned -- lots more Randy is on the way!

Awsome!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing!!! I havent read but the introduction sofar,I will add more if I have to after I finish reading this, but if it really is like he says
""To celebrate Randy’s life and accomplishments, I’ll be devoting several postings to him this month. These will include my complete 1982 interviews with members of his family, Ozzy Osbourne and his band, Rudy Sarzo from Quiet Riot, engineer/producer Max Norman, and Grover Jackson, who built Randy’s distinctive guitar. Portions of these conversations appeared in my November 1982 Guitar Player cover story, Randy Rhoads Remembered, but they’ve never before been published in their entirety. Let’s begin at the beginning, with Randy’s mother, Delores Rhoads, who celebrated her 90th birthday earlier this year. Our conversation took place on August 5, 1982.""
Note it says Portions (Portions of these conversations appeared in my November 1982 Guitar Player cover story)
I Know theese interviews & they are GREAT!!!! I would love to hear more from them so shortly after the accident & Randys Legacy hadnt gotten to the "Cult Status" that had grown in the 1,000,000's by the time Tribute came out.
I think this is the interview w/Max where he says that Randy was at 85% the potential of his ability before he got killed. He had said something quite different by the 90s .
I'd love to hear more about the recording "tricks & techniques" used.
Thanks again

I checked out those pics. I see Kelle (Doug) in the first one, standing in the back next to the two kids in dark shirts. And Kathy is sitting next to him in the last one, you can see her in that pic on Jas' page. See what you think. It sure looks like him and her!
