like how The amps on thhe Diary tour were hidden & Shit on the BOO tour You NEVER (mabey aside from DOTG,seea picture of Lindsy Bridgewater" & he was in the band ,so Id think shed want the cameras not Obstructing the "OZZY SHOW"
Haven't thought about that, but this maybe true!
btw: could you spot a camera in that SOTD vid? Have to admit I maybe watched it two or three times , so I didn't really try hard, but while watching I tried to pay attention a bit at times and didn't see anyone, usually it's not that hard to spot some cams on stage. Your 'theory' makes sense for sure.

Posts: 274 Yeah FLYING ,I was thinking the same as I typed it because I never really watched with that in mind,I'll go back & look & see,but Outside the Drum Riser I cant recall any so its something to think about,in the meantime while were waiting to find out.
I was at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater in June of 1982 for the Diary of a Madman show with Brad Gillis that was later broadcast on MTV as the "Speak of the Devil" live show. The set list was the standard Diary tour songs, not the ones on the "Speak of the Devel" double album that they recorded in New York.
Irvine Meadows is now know as the Verizon Ampitheatre in Irvine, California. At the time, there were something like 9,000 seats and 5,000 general admission tickets sold for the grass area above. We were sitting in the last row of the regular seats towards Brad Gillis' side of the stage. They have since made another higher section of seats that I think are called ""terrace" and reduced the size of the lawn.
Anyway, the reason I'm replying is that I stood in the last row directly in front of a pro camera setup with an elevated carmeraman and a video camera that looked like it was straight from a hollywood movie shoot. I know there were at least 3 of these big camera rigs each with there own cameraman, and there may have been as many as six. It was a concert shot at night, and the reason I knew it was the Irvine show when it came on MTV is because I am 6'8" tall and on several occasions I partially blocked the side shot while leaning over to comment about the laser bats or whatever to my dad and little brother. I have no idea whether this information is helpful. Since it was my first "major" concert, I didn't know at the time if they filmed ever show with that kind of equipment. But later, I knew that it wasn't typical, although I was also at the Iron Maiden Live Shows shot at the Long Beach arena a year or two later that produced their double live album.
I was only 15 years old and it was so bittersweet being my first major concert and getting to see Ozzy, but with my hero Randy having died three months earlier it was difficult to enjoy. I went with my dad and my little brother and it was quite a scene for conservative South Orange County. The local papers had all kinds of stuff about the local police were going to arrest Ozzy if he bit the heads off of any doves or harmed any animals and the city of Irvine really didn't want Ozzy to be there. It was kind of a freaky scene for me as a 15 year old OC kid to see so many people openly snorting coke, smoking pot, and getting drunk in line and the security not doing a think about it.
I always regret not going to the xecond night of the DOAM tour at the Sports Arena in LA on New Year's Eve in 1981, but I was 14 then and convincing my parents that I needed to be at a concert arena in Watts at midnight to see Ozzy was just not happening. At the time Ozzy freaked everybody out and it was back when people were so concerned about the whole "devil worshipping" and sex, drugs, and rock and roll image. I loved how rebellious it was, but I just couldn't convince anyone that I should be at that show to see Randy and Ozzy. Damn!
Thanks Rhoads Fan that was an interesting 1st post, welcome to the forum. It just goes to show that when a concert is filmed professionaly. That things like the big bulky cameras are seen and after all this time people do remember seeing them. When people are convinced that some show was pro shot. All it takes is for someone to remember and you can then say for definate that you have some kind of proof. I do keep mentioning Dave Tangye who was a big part of the Ozzy crew and he was there for all the 1980 UK tour and all the 1981 Blizzard USA tour. He said he could remember a gig being filmed pro shot. Not 8mm home movie BIG cameras with a crew. But we can all just hope that these films do come back to life. No mud slinging please i'm just making a valid point
I love reading the speculation on this board...very entertaining!
I actually e-mailed Wolfgang's Vault after seeing the Frampton and Skynrd DOTG footage on PBS a few weeks ago and outright asked if they had any Ozzy Osbourne footage from the show on July 4th, 1981. I did get an answer, but it was the typical "we are always going through our archives to uncover and post additional shows on our website, and cannot guarantee the show you requested is there."
Anyone know someone on the inside at WV - that may be the only way the existence of this footage or not is confirmed.
I was Looking around a few months ago about this & I remember not finding Ozzy listed on Bill Grahams List of artists.Im not sure if Day on the Green 81 was Bill G but I'd assume it was? But that Wolfgangs Vault did have the King Biscuit Show from Montreal 7-81
And it actually had a Cool ass picture of the Tape Reel!!
I'll post it if I can find it,its been a few months

I just hate it when people will not have it.. when a gig has been photographed from the stage front and back and in the crowd. The people who went to the gig have been asked time and time again. They would say if they had seen any cameras, so are we talking pro shot. If that is the case then the guys who were taking photographs would of captured the camera crew on stage filming the band. Remember Ozzy was low on the billing the 2nd band of the day with a short set. I have seen other stills of BOC and Heart and no cameras. So does that give you any clues, you've got it from the people whe went to the gig and the camera never lies. Plus i don't think that Ozzy's management would of wanted anyone walking away with potential material for a video release without the full permission and ok from them.
