I was some what surprised to read this clipping that Tom posted up over at TK. It says that Ozzy released 7 doves during every concert. ? I assume they are on about the US Diary tour. How come you never read about this in gig reviews and where did they keep the doves. Was it wrote on the bands rider that they had to have 7 live doves at every gig ?. Especially after the dove's head biting incident would you do this to keep the animal rights happy ?.
yea I think you have to take into consideration, that back then , many were out to get Ozzy, and would print things like that. When I saw the Diary tour in Feb 82' there wasn't any doves released. Though I think at some early shows they did. I think Rudy mentioned it in his book. Pretty dumb thing to do for an areana show..

Yeah when you come to mention it i think i remember Rudy mentioning this and how do you get the doves to come back once they've been released. Unless they are homing doves. Cooo them back into the cage or shoot them with dove tranquilisers ?. You've got to take this with a pinch of salt. Like the giant hand which Ozzy use to come out over the crowd at the end of the gig. This must of been used on only a couple of occasions. It's hardly ever been photographed, i remember Ozzy whinging on about how he was shit scared of heights. He said he'd never go on it again after the catapult dumped all the offal off cuts on him instead of the crowd. All in the name of Rock n Roll thats when the theatre starts to take over the music. I always thought and believed that he would 'blow up' a goat on stage. Not an inflatable one, a live one with dynamite up its ass. But i was a gullible child and believed all the bullshit at the time.
Yea I saw them use the hand. It was the funniest thing. I still remember that and just laughing thinking "what the hell is that?" I remember the band left the stage, you heard this erie laughing from Ozzy and it kept going and I was thinking where is he ? Then boom this hand started coming out from the stairs.. it was pretty big. Then the rest of the guys came back.
I just don't remember any doves, I think he got in trouble by the animal right and they were watching him after the bat thing. So he may have kept the doves in the cage
I always wondered what the hand stood for? Was it the "Hand of Doom?" Usually when you have a theatrical stage production there is some deeper meaning to having things on stage. You don't just build them and say, "Ohh yeah and how about a gigantic hand as well as the castle..."

It was based on a theme of different productions/ ideas Ozzy had for stage shows. The Diary stage show was based on the 'Jack the Giant killer' kids story, fairy tales. Ozzy being Jack in the castle of the giant and the hand is self explanitary. The song 'Killer of Giants' was still in the making and ended up on the Ultimate Sin album. The same with the Bark at the Moon period with horror and Werewolves being the theme.
