Diary Question

Post by Livewire8195 »

Did Randy use his Jackson RR to record every song on the album? I've always wondered this because that was that guitar that he played all the Diary stuff on live.

Did you know that the band literaly went straight back into the studio after making Blizzard of Ozz. They did the UK 1980 tour then went back to Ridge farm studios. The guitars which feature on the inside sleeve from the Tribute album are basicaly what Randy would of used including the 12 string Gibson Firebird. That photo was taking at Ridge farm studios during the Diary recording. I don't know if he used the Fender Strat in the pick ?.

Randy's Notebook

Post by RR-ElectricAngel »

It is actually two photos. One is of Randy's guitars set side by side and the other is Randy's Notebook which is superimposed behind it. Mrs. Rhoads made a reference to the notebook in the Japanese documentary. As far I know the notebook is full of music theory. There are keys, chords and modes spelled out on each page. Here is one I found on a Japanese fan web site.

Thnaks so much for these close ups. I wonder if Randy copied these or actually made a habit of writing his thought out?

Matt, I'd guess Randy made a habit of writing the stuff out. I do the same thing, have kept a notebook of music theory for years.
