Limited Edition - Mike Shannon Jackson

Post by binmc »

I just received a catalog today from Musician's Friend and they had a full page ad on this limited release signed Jackson. Looks like a PCS Jackson and comes hand signed by Mike along with a special DVD and also includes a Mike Shannon truss rod cover. What do you think?

Nice looking guitar, kinda like Randy's 2nd Concorde.

Scan the Musician's Friend photos. A cool pic of Shannon with the original RR Jackson.

This is just another excuse to charge excessive amounts for the same guitar that has been available for years. oooooh Mike Shannon signed it, oooooh that's so cool, I think I should pay an extra grand for that.

They're promoting this as a limited edition of only 10 signed guitars. I'd rather invest in a PCS Jackson as it's closer to Randy's original.

Wayyyyyy to many old threads being resurrected here lol..

It gives the illusion of something actually going on, nice to see them but really annoying at the same time since the whole first page seems to be from threads years ago :-)

Well nothing new is being talked about so...
I have decided to revive old threads to see new takes on things I don't want to create a new thread to find out that it has been already talked about

It's better to have something going on than nothing

I try to keep this site busy
If I comment on an old topic and people take notice then I should get no complaints

But thanks for your imput shockwave
I can't belive you noticed the date the of when the topic was posted good eye :D

I am not a big fan of signature series, relics, custom shops or limited editions because all it means is more $$$. I forget exactly when Fender came out with the Ed Van Halen guitars (3 models) with Charvel necks. Was it 2002? Fender had bought Charvel and could now reproduce the "lawsuit" Charvel necks with a Fender style headstock. That is why the pointy headstock came about. Anyway, I wanted a guitar with all the same features (Floyd, Unfinished/lemon oiled maple neck) EXCEPT for the paint job. I knew half the price was the custom paint job. I think they were $3,000. In 2009-2010 Charvel (owned by Fender) came out with pretty much an Eddie guitar minus the paint jobs but they had Floyd's and Dimarzio's and Seymour Duncan's. They were made in America and had a list price of $1,100. One of the first runs had a strat type of neck and a tele body. While a cool look, not a lot of people cared or bought them. Later there were some deals made and you could get some of the models for $800-900. I went through a guy that broke down the guitars and parted them out on ebay. I put together a few for about $600-700. They are nice guitars and have a light touch to them. I had a Gibson V in my teens and a Les Paul too in my twenties and considered myself a Gibson man, these made me lighten up on my grip of the strings. Moral of the story is don't pay too much for BS like pre-rusting your bridge, scraping your paint off or a limited edition. It's like why is it limited? You guys make good guitars right? If you are in a band doing originals, playing out, okay, get the custom paint but if you whip out an Eddie or Randy guitar, YOU BETTER SMOKE THOSE STRINGS!

I see some old and new posts and I decide whether to participate or not. However, I do hate speculation, anyone and everyone can keep going on and on about something we'll probably never know. My Achilles heel is the speculation that Randy or Rachel were somehow to blame and I don't want to ever comment on it again but people will and they can but that subject has become too futile for me.
